Yamato Empire of the Rising Sun Campaign #6: Oppression

Wasn't there a government center here a moment ago?

Goal: Destroy Kyushu government center.

The Skinny: This one just looks like it's hard. It's really quite easy to put the Kyushu away. The key is that you remain allied with them long enough to betray them.

In this scenario you are required to pay the Kyushu a tribute of 200 gold every few minutes. You start with 400 gold, a few villagers, and most of your basic Tool Age buildings in place - right in the middle of the Kyusu city.

No dawdling in this one. You have to start fast out of the gates. The Kyushu are like dragons hungry for your gold, and you'd better keep feeding them.

Directly to the west of your starting position are some berries. Put three of your villagers on berry collection. Just to the north of you is a small deposit of gold along with your market and a storage pit.

Immediately research gold mining to squeeze more gold out of the small deposit. Keep building villagers and split them between woodcutting and berry-gathering.

Take one villager and move him north until you find water, then build a dock there. Next build a fishing boat and begin fishing.

Then build a trade boat. There is another village's dock just to the north. Trade food for gold. You may want to build a second trade boat.

Keep chopping wood and build a scout ship. Sail it west. Along the western edge of the map you will find an island with a supply of gold. Unfortunately, it is inhabited by several lions. Use the scout ship to attack the lions.

Now build a transport and take three or four villagers to the island with the gold. Build a storage pit and mine for gold. If you get this far and are able to keep up with the tribute, you can relax a little.

To the east of your original starting point you will find some stone. Mine it so that you can build towers.

You want to get to the Bronze Age. Take a villager or two south inside the Kyushu city walls. The government center is near the back. Find it and build a barracks and an archery range nearby. This will allow you to upgrade to the Bronze Age.

You will probably have to farm now. While you are farming, take the villagers who built the barracks and archery range and have them construct a ring of towers around the Kyushu government center.

Upgrade to axemen then short swordsmen. Build some short swordsmen and put them next to the catapult near the government center. Build some archers. Upgrade your towers.

When you are ready, change your status from allied to enemy and attack the catapult. Next, target the government center. You will come under fire, but all you need to do is destroy the government center to win. With your ring of towers, short swordsmen, and archers, you should do it rather quickly.

Dangers: The only real danger is not being able to pay the Kyushu their tribute. You really have to scramble for gold.
