One of the real strengths of Age of Empires is the variety of civilizations you can play. Although more alike than not, the subtle differences can have a huge impact on the strategies you employ. Some civilizations are better early-age civilizations. Other civilizations, such as the Greeks, become more powerful as they reach the Bronze and Iron Ages.
