Egypt Campaign #11: A Wonder of the World

Screenshot
The enemy is well fortified and soon will invade to keep you from building your Wonder

Goal: Build a Wonder of the world.

The Skinny: Here's another scenario that requires a fast start. Within minutes of starting this scenario you will be invaded by a single transport ship carrying a couple of stone throwers and five or six other troops. It's curtains for you if you can't repel them.

The formula for winning this scenario is fairly simple, though: Repel the initial attack; trade food for gold with the Minoans in the southeast edge of the map; advance to the Iron Age; repel another Caananite attack; mine the stone on the strip of land at the far western edge of the map (you have to cross the sea to get to it); and build a Wonder.

To repel the initial attack, you'll have to start quickly. As soon as the scenario starts, build two fishing boats, take the two villagers from your town center to chop wood, and take the other two villagers near the berries to gather them.

Build an additional four villagers, putting the first three on berry collecting and the fourth to build a barracks. Build some axemen and research the wheel to increase the speed of your villagers. When you're invaded, use your villagers to help your axemen stave off the invaders. Your fishing boats will also be attacked on the sea, and you may lose them.

After you beat back the invasion, you'll have some breathing room. Build up your villagers and maximize your resource harvesting to get to the Iron Age. Build up a small army. Upgrade to war galleys and build a few of them.

You will probably be invaded again by a larger force, but you should be able to hold them off. Once you do, you should be well in command of the game, and you can harass the Caananites (located in the far western corner of the map) from the seas and destroy any transport ships near their city. This will give you the time you'll need to build a Wonder.

Dangers: Like many of the other scenarios, you will be invaded early on.
