Siege Weapons

Stone Thrower
Stone
Thrower
Available in: Bronze Age
Prerequisites: Build Archery Range and Siege Workshop
Cost: 180 wood, 80 gold
Hit points: 75
Attack: 50
Armor: N/A
Range: 10
Speed: Slow
Upgrades to: Catapult
Special: Stone throwers fire once every five seconds and have a small damage area. Their minimum range is 2

Civilizations with bonuses for Stone Throwers: Hittite (double hit points) and Sumerian (+50 percent fire rate)

Stone Thrower Tips: These are slow and somewhat expensive, so build as needed only. They are good for attacking structures and defending your city when it is under siege. They can also defend a coastline against ships fairly well, provided the ships stay in one place long enough for them to be hit. It's good to leave stone throwers away from the coast a bit so that they aren't initially targeted by the ships. Once the ships have acquired a target, move the stone throwers up to attack. They need to be supported with troops, since they are helpless in up-close fighting.

Catapult
Catapult
Available in: Iron Age
Prerequisites: Build Archery Range and Siege Workshop
Cost: 180 wood, 80 gold
Hit points: 75
Attack: 60
Armor: N/A
Range: 12
Speed: Slow
Upgrades to: Heavy Catapult
Special: Catapults fire once every five seconds and have a medium damage area. Their minimum range is 2

Civilizations with bonuses for Catapults: Hittite (double hit points) and Sumerian (+50 percent fire rate)

Catapult Tips: See stone thrower tips.

Heavy Catapult
Heavy
Catapult
Available in: Iron Age
Prerequisites: Build Archery Range and Siege Workshop (also research siege craft)
Cost: 180 wood, 80 gold
Hit points: 150
Attack: 75
Armor: N/A
Range: 13
Speed: Slow
Upgrades to: N/A
Special: Heavy catapult fire once every five seconds and have a large damage area. Their minimum range is 2

Civilizations with bonuses for Heavy Catapults: Hittite (double hit points) and Sumerian (+50 percent fire rate)

Heavy Catapult Tips: See stone thrower tips.

Ballista
Ballista
Available in: Iron Age
Prerequisites: Build Archery Range and Siege Workshop
Cost: 100 wood, 80 gold
Hit points: 55
Attack: 40
Armor: 1
Range: 9
Speed: Slow
Upgrades to: Helepolis
Special: A ballista's fire rate is once every three seconds. Their minimum range is 3

Civilizations with bonuses for Ballista: N/A

Ballista Tips: These are somewhat better at attacking enemy units due to their faster rate of fire, though they are also excellent against structures. In comparison, a stone thrower can do 150 points of damage to a structure while a ballista can do 200 points of damage within 15 seconds. Ballistas need to be in closer, however. They are destroyed easily, so you must defend them well. They also can defend a coastline against ships. It's good to leave them away from the coast a bit so that they aren't initially targeted by ships. Once the ships have acquired a target, move the ballista up to attack.

Helepolis
Helepolis
Available in: Iron Age
Prerequisites: Build Archery Range and Siege Workshop (also research craftsmanship)
Cost: 100 wood, 80 gold
Hit points: 55
Attack: 40
Armor: N/A
Range: 10
Speed: Slow
Upgrades to: N/A
Special: A Helepolis' fire rate is once every one and a half seconds. Their minimum range is 3

Civilizations with bonuses for Helepolis: N/A

Helepolis Tips: A helepolis can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time and is good in a variety of situations. They are excellent for laying waste an enemy city or protecting your coastline. It's good to leave them back away from the coast a bit so that they aren't initially targeted by the ships. Once the ships have acquired a target, move the helepolis up to attack.
