Voices of Babylon Campaign #8: Ninevah

This imposing force is just part of Ninevah's military might

Goal: Destroy Ninevah's Wonder.

The Skinny: This one requires steely determination and swift execution. The clock is ticking as the enemy builds a Wonder. Fortunately, the enemy only uses one worker to build the Wonder, so you have quite a bit of time. Unfortunately, you start with no villagers under your control and no town center.

Immediately upgrade your scout ships to war galleys and upgrade your towers. Start building new war galleys as fast as possible. Gather all your troops near the dock. You are about to be attacked - fiercely - on the sea and by an invading land force.

Use your catapult to help defend the dock. Be careful to not have it in the front line where it will be targeted. You have to fight off several waves of enemy ships, and you need to control the sea near your dock, so keep building war galleys.

Once things have eased up a bit, take a priest and load him in a transport ship and sail him due west along the bottom of the map. You may want to engage in a little fishing at this point, as well.

Land your priest at the first landmass he comes to. There is a villager trapped in the forest. Convert him and have him build a town center. Build another two villagers to chop their way through the forest towards your transport boat. You might need to provide some cover fire from your war galleys, as there are some antsy enemies not far from the villagers. Don't have them chop inwards towards the north where a tower will target them.

Once the villagers are free, bring them back to your island and build another town center and start farming, chopping wood, etc. Now is the time to begin to build your army. There is an island along the northeast edge of the map, with the natural resources you need, which is easy to conquer.

You will need to invade a well-fortified Ninevah to destroy the Wonder. Fully wrest control of the seas at this point and bombard them from the coast with triremes and catapult triremes. Do what you can to soften them up then land an invasion force at the upper northeast corner of their island.

You will need catapults to destroy the many towers you'll face, infantry to protect the catapults, cavalry to quickly charge and destroy enemy ballistas and catapults, and priests to heal your wounded. Make no mistake: The enemy is well fortified with towers and tough military units.

Once you make your way in and destroy the enemy's Wonder, you win.

Dangers: There are several things that need to happen for you to be successful. You need to fight off the initial attackers, successfully convert the villagers and free them to build on your island, and quickly build an attack force to strike Ninevah before the Wonder clock counts down.
