Chapter Seven: Wonders

GlobeSat

Age: Modern
Cost: 7,200
Prerequisite: GlobeNet
Primary Function: Intelligence
Effect: Radar coverage of the world
Obsolescence: Cloaking

Gaining an insight to what your enemies (and even your allies) are up to could be a significant advantage as your civilization moves into the late ages. This wonder is even more important to those players who are concerned about being attacked (or concerned about who to attack). As you can see all the units as well as cities, you'll have plenty of time to mount an adequate defense against any form of attack, conventional or otherwise. GlobeSat is particularly useful in a multiplayer game against crafty human players; because predicting what human opponents plan to do is difficult, GlobeSat can quickly give you a leg up on the competition.

The perfect reconnaissance wonder, the GlobeSat reveals the map for its discoverer.

Gutenberg Bible

Age: Renaissance
Cost: 2,880
Prerequisite: Printing press
Primary Function: Science
Effect: +10 percent science in all cities; eliminates conversions in civilization
Obsolescence: Mass production

The antithesis to the Hagia Sophia wonder, Gutenberg's Bible, while also boosting scientific research by 10 percent, also eliminates the potential for your cities to be converted (which could result in mounting gold losses to tithes). If any enemy civilization has started the Hagia Sophia wonder, you might want to consider discovering Gutenberg's Bible, especially if this enemy civilization is a close neighbor. With the Hagia Sophia wonder in hand, should your enemy convert one of your cities, the gold losses could result in an ugly uphill battle. Still, though, the +10 percent boost to scientific research could be reason enough to consider discovering this early-game wonder.
