Chapter Two: Units

Knight

Requires: Stirrup
Cost: 540

Assault: 3
Ranged Strength: 0
Defense: 2
Vision: 1
Movement Points: 4
Support: 16
Abilities: Special forces

The knight is an effective unit in the early part of the game, having more of a role prior to the introduction of the cavalry. Quick on its feet and able to traverse several land tiles per turn, its strong offense makes this a well-rounded unit that can get around quickly and deal with problems as they arise. To make the knight more effective, consider placing several archers into an army along with some knights, and you'll have a potent force indeed. Last, the knight is considered a special-forces unit, meaning it is always in a state of military readiness.

Place some lawyers next to enemy cities and keep filing injunctions against them, bringing their production to an end. It's a great way to slow down your enemy's factories while you launch an attack.

Lawyer

Requires: Democracy
Cost: 450

Defense: 1
Vision: 1
Movement Points: 3
Support: 14
Abilities: Files injunctions, sues

Sometimes the law can be more powerful than a tank or jet. This is where the lawyer comes in; an unconventional unit that can bring an enemy city's production to a grinding halt by filing an injunction against the target. Unfortunately, this effect lasts only one turn but is relatively cheap at 300 gold per use. Filing an injunction can be effective if you know the enemy city is nearing completion on a particular unit you'd rather not face, and you need just a turn or more to get your invasion force in order. Last, the lawyer can sue other lawyers and corporate branches, permanently destroying them as well as removing franchises from your infected city. An effective tactic is to build a small army of lawyers and have them canvass enemy territory, bringing the entire production of units to a halt while you lead an offensive attack.
