Chapter Two: Units

Nuke

Requires: Quantum physics
Cost: 4,000

Assault: 100
Ranged Strength: 0
Defense: 1
Vision: 1
Movement Points: 20
Fuel: 1 Turn
Support: 120
Abilities: Destroys target and anything around target

The mother of all weapons, the nuke can take out any target with one blow as well as destroying any units surrounding the target. Unfortunately, the use of a nuke wreaks havoc on the planet's ecology, so don't be surprised if the pollution increases dramatically. Nukes will fly for one turn, up to 20 squares, before exploding. If you need more distance, you must transport them by submarine or launch them with a bomber after loading the weapon at an air base. When targeting your nuke, make sure you can take out as many units as possible, that is, aim for large congregations of armies, to make it worth your while.

Paratrooper

Requires: Jet propulsion
Cost: 2,500

Assault: 10
Ranged Strength: 0
Defense: 10
Vision: 2
Movement Points: 3
Support: 75
Abilities: Paradrops

This is a superb unit for surprise attacks. One second the enemy doesn't see any forces near its cities or armies, the next, it finds a ton of paratroopers infesting the landscape. Able to appear up to 20 tiles away in a single turn, launching a paratrooper assault as the first wave of an invasion is a great way to take the enemy by surprise before polishing it off with other units. Better still, paratroopers can be deployed from transport ships, so you have many ways at your disposal to take the enemy by surprise.

Phalanx

Requires: Bronze working
Cost: 135

Assault: 1
Ranged Strength: 0
Defense: 2
Vision: 1
Movement Points: 1
Support: 4

One of the first military units you'll build is the phalanx, and this unit plays a critical role in the early portion of the game. Not to be used as an invasion force, place a phalanx in each city in a fortified position. The phalanx is all about defense, so the more you have in each city, the better.

Phantom

Requires: Cloaking
Cost: 6,750

Assault: 40
Ranged Strength: 0
Defense: 10
Vision: 1
Movement Points: 3
Support: 203
Abilities: Cloaks

This potent military unit travels through space and has the uncanny ability to cloak itself from view. While cloaked, the phantom is free to engage anything and everything, and its extreme firepower ensures that most enemy units will be chewed up and spat out with ease. However, if the enemy happens to see the phantom in unlocked form, it will easily be destroyed, so make sure you're using its abilities wisely before sending this powerful unit on a mission of destruction.
