Machine Gunner Requires: Explosives Assault: 8 The big brother of the musketeer, the machine gunner nails the enemy with a hail of bullets. When used as a front-line defense, the machine gunner really struts its stuff. Consider placing machine gunners at chokepoints on the map to protect yourself from invasion.
Requires: Mass production Assault: 12 Cheap to build and support, you should construct large masses of marines and make sure you have an armada of transport ships at their disposal. The reason for this is that marines are one of the only units that can attack a coastal city straight from a transport ship. If you have a large army of these units, you can really punch a hole in a city's defense, opening the way for a secondary invasion force. Make sure the transport ship carrying your invasion force has escort, as you wouldn't want to lose all your hard work because some pathetic trireme decides to take down your transport ship.
Mobile SAM Requires: Rocketry Assault: 4 So, one bomber after another has been bombarding your cities without remorse, simply flying overhead with little in the way of opposition. One sure way to bring this to an end is to produce several mobile SAM launchers. If your economy permits, build several of these units and place the bulk of them along coastal waters for quick interception of enemy bombers, acting as a first line of defense. Last, build a few for your largest cities, so they have a second line of defense. Chances are, the enemy will not waste bombers on your smaller cities, so make sure you're prepared. Mobile SAM launchers will automatically attack any air unit that comes close, so you needn't worry about telling it to attack.
