Chapter Two: Units

Infector

Requires: Genetics
Cost: 3,750

Defense: 1 Vision: 1
Movement Points: 3
Support: 113
Abilities: Infects cities

A nasty attack unit, the infector is a great way to bring even the strongest enemy city to its knees. However, this accomplished not through death, but by spreading a lethal plague through the targeted city which has an overwhelming effect on happiness to the tune of a five-point drop. Better yet, any city trading with the infected target has a 30 percent chance of being infected as well, so if your luck holds, you can literally kill two birds with one stone. Infectors are a stealth unit, so they can move around the landscape, avoiding detection until their deed is done, or until another stealthy unit uncovers them. The wise player will use the infector against large and powerful targets instead of wasting its ability against a small and insignificant city.

Having air power is pointless unless you've set up air bases and carriers to handle the refueling process. Coordinating your air bases and keeping them along the borders ensures your air units will have the longest range possible and will be able to return home safely.

Interceptor

Requires: Jet propulsion Cost: 1,500

Assault: 15
Ranged Strength: 12
Defense: 12
Vision: 3
Movement Points: 15
Fuel: 2 turns
Support: 45
Abilities: Active Defense

If you're getting pounded with enemy bombers, you should build yourself a fleet of interceptors to deal with the threat. Able to move long distances in a single turn, interceptors offer lethal firepower that will rip a bomber to shreds and force the enemy to think twice the next time. The interceptor is also an active defender, meaning that it will automatically attack any and all aircraft that comes within its vision radius, letting you concentrate on other activities while it deals with incoming threats. You should place your interceptors in coastal towns as a first line of defense.
