Strengths: 30 percent faster warships and hoplite, phalanx, and centurion units. The Greeks are one of the strongest Iron Age civilizations. Weaknesses: No advanced archery range units, no chariots, and no barracks units beyond axemen. The Greeks are vulnerable in the Stone and Tool Ages, and even somewhat in the Bronze Age, since they don't get most of their good military units until the Iron Age. Greek Strategies: Get to the Iron Age or at least to the Bronze, where you can begin building hoplites. The Greeks are also a strong naval civilization. Try not to engage the enemy before getting to the Bronze Age so you can devote more resources to getting to the Iron Age. Once you make it to the Iron Age, build your army and route the enemy. Use your fast troops to close in on enemy archers and use your advanced siege weapons to knock down towers and walls. Research aristocracy to make your fast army even faster. Do not spend too much for archery-range unit upgrades. Don't forget about your strong Iron Age navy, as well. What to watch out for: Avoid spending your resources to build Stone and Tool Age armies. These are dead-end expenditures, so minimize this as much as possible. Also, be wary of priests, since you have no chariot units. Strengths: They get double stone thrower, catapult, and heavy catapult hit points. They also get a +1 archery-range unit attack, and their warships get a whopping +4 range of attack. Weaknesses: The Hittites are well rounded, but they do suffer from the fact that most temple research is closed to them, and they have a weak Iron Age navy. Hittite Strategies: The Hittites probably are at their best in the Bronze Age, so you should shoot for that age. Two of their best advantages: the extra-strong stone thrower and the extra attack range of their warships, which first appear in the Bronze Age. Strike in the Bronze Age, but remember that you will need several stone throwers to make an impact and you will have to guard them with infantry and archers. Group and assign a number to the stone throwers, your infantry, and your archers. As the stone throwers get rushed, retreat them and use your infantry to engage the onrushing attackers. Be careful to keep your stone throwers from attacking the engaged enemy, though, as you will kill your own troops as well. What to watch out for: The Hittites are susceptible to a strong Iron Age navy, and their Bronze Age archers are a bit weak, too. They have fairly weak Iron Age cavalry, as well.
