Choson

Strengths: Priests cost 30 percent less, towers have a +2 range, and long swordsmen and legion troops have +80 hit points.

Weaknesses: With no chariots of any sort, the Choson need to keep on the lookout for enemy priests. They also have no centurions or phalanx units, which leaves them a bit vulnerable against Iron Age infantry. This is offset somewhat by the extra hit points for long swordsmen and legion troops, but one-on-one they still are no match for centurions.

Choson Strategies: A good Bronze Age civilization. The Choson are vulnerable in the Stone and Tool Ages before they can get priests and infantry with extra hit points. Choson players need to rush to the Bronze Age as soon as possible. Once there, you can try to field a powerful army of infantry with extra hit points, backed by priests who can heal your troops in battle and convert the enemy. The key is to time your battle so that you catch your opponents before they advance to the Iron Age, where your advantage isn't as great. Choson towers, with their added range, can be constructed near an opponent's towers and can knock them down without suffering retaliatory fire. The Choson can also credibly play a Wonder strategy, protecting their city with towers, priests, and extra-tough infantry. Your best defense against priests may be your own priests to immediately reconvert your troops.

What to watch out for: Getting drawn into battle in either the Stone or Tool Age. Other than their towers, the Choson have no advantages during these ages. The Choson have a weak Iron Age navy, as well, so protect your coast with towers.

Egyptian

Strengths: Chariots and chariot archers receive an extra 33 percent hit points, priests enjoy a +3 conversion range, and Egyptian villagers mine an extra 20 percent gold.

Weaknesses: Egypt is a weak Iron Age civilization on land. The Egyptians essentially have a Bronze Age army with the addition of Iron Age elephant archers and war elephants, which are costly. They don't even get a Bronze Age long swordsman.

Egyptian Strategies: Get to the Bronze Age first! Build chariots and chariot archers and harass and attack. Your chariots are perfect hit-and-run units. Build some priests and start converting the heathen enemy. Use your superior gold mining to pay for key upgrades like nobility, which boost your chariot hit points. Don't hoard your gold for the Iron Age - spend it to make your Bronze Age army more effective. You do have a strong Iron Age navy and towers, so if you find yourself in an Iron Age battle, use these to your advantage. Research the key technologies that will help your priests. You can build a Wonder, but you will have to protect it with priests and towers as much as anything else.

What to watch out for: Egypt enjoys no advantages in the Stone and Tool Ages. Egypt also fields an extremely weak Iron Age army. If you find yourself battling other Iron Age civilizations, play defensively on land and employ guerrilla tactics with chariots and priests, and see if you can wreak some havoc with your navy.
