Multiplayer Strategies
Nox offers a diverse and challenging multiplayer experience. The single-player game offers adequate training for the dangers you'll find online, but you'll need the following strategies to help you succeed in the unpredictable Nox online world.
Character Selection
Before diving into the world of multiplayer Nox, take the time to decide on your character class. Though it may seem that a particular class has distinct advantages over the other two, a skilled player can mount effective attacks with any of the three.
For players who want to score kills without as much effort, select the conjurer and use its beast summoning and bomber spell combos to unleash devastating onto enemy players. The warrior is perhaps the easiest class to use - no spell belts or beast summoning to worry about - but it's also one of the toughest to use effectively against a veteran wizard or conjurer (though the warrior can be highly effective). Stick with the wizard if you prefer terminating your foes from a distance, either with spells, nasty traps, or clever tricks.
Don't think you're stuck with a particular class. If things aren't going well, log out and try your hand at one of Nox's other character classes. Also, take the time to play at least the first portion of the single-player campaigns. You'll learn a lot about how to use a character class' special abilities, spells, and tricks by performing them against the not-quite-as-unpredictable monster enemies.
Using the Environment
One of Nox's best features is the ability to use the map and environment to your advantage. Use this in combination with Nox's line-of-sight feature (anything out of your sight is displayed in black) to launch surprise attacks or keep out of the eyes of your enemy.
Environmental objectives like trees, rocks, and structures can be used to hide behind as a spellcaster launches wave after wave of attacks at you. Got missiles tracking you? Run around a rock or tree and let the magic missiles impact harmlessly against the foliage. Structures also provide decent hiding spots as well as places to camp inside. Look for windows inside the buildings; an opponent won't see you unless he gets up close. Meanwhile, you can fire ranged weapons (such as a warrior's shuriken or a conjurer's arrow) or wand and spell attacks through the window.
Study the map and look for ways to trap your enemy (or enemies) in a particular location. A cornered enemy usually won't have a defensive answer to repel your attacks. Knowing the map also lets you memorize the fastest escape routes, either when trying to flee from a powerful opponent in arena or king-of-the-realm play or when heading back to base with the flag in a capture-the-flag game.
