Conjurer Single-Player Strategies
A conjurer's greatest strengths are his flexibility and his ability to charm and summon creatures. He is a flexible character because he not only holds his own in a hand-to-hand fight, but he has a nice set of spells and quivers to complement his strength.

The Early Stages
During the first stages of the game, conjurers cannot charm or summon. They rely on their pixie swarm spell to keep small enemies at bay and on offensive spells like meteor to deal with larger groups. Like wizards, conjurers should not be afraid to run from enemies who are large and slow, regenerating mana where possible and turning from time to time to attack from range.
Once you get hold of the charm creature spell, your danger is magnified greatly. Since charm only works on a creature if you have that creature in the spell book, buying beast scrolls from shopkeepers should be a priority. The conjurer's side quests often lead to such scrolls as a reward.
Your charm spell should be among those that you use the most often. It usually takes less mana to charm a creature than to kill it with offensive spells, and further, a charmed creature becomes an ally.
You will progress faster through the game if you do not become attached to your charmed creatures. Spending mana on healing and protecting them is often not as efficient as letting them take the hits for you while you attack from range. Charm only costs mana and can easily be used on the next such creatures you come across.
Another very useful conjurer spell is stun. If you are being pursued by a powerful enemy, cast stun on it and make your escape. You should also preface such spells as meteor and fist of vengeance with stun, to hold enemies in place.
Spell Belt
In the midgame, create one spell belt that consists of the sorts of defensive spells (pixies, protection against poison, and so on) that you want to load up on while you are standing next to mana regenerators. Make this your secondary belt, while your primary belt contains stun, meteor, and charm. Whenever you are near mana regenerators, switch to your defensive belt and cast spells on yourself - pixie swarm coming last in the list.
