Author's Description:

Episode 4 “Ithaca” - The Peloponnesian War Adventure

On first observation Ithaca looks like quite a challenge. And it is if not planned out. The three greatest challenges in this map are:

1. Setting up eight (8) elite houses.
2. Eliminating the two monsters Scylla and Cyclops
3. Finding room on the cluster of islands to build your working and elite housing.

Looking at the map I decided to build my working housing on the entry Island. There I build a narrow string of housing. Fortunately, I was provided wool and oil and quickly evolved my housing. For food I depended on 6 urchin sheds in the Southern most part of the Island.

Scylla came quickly but to my amazement she only destroyed one Urchin shed every one or two game years. This gave me plenty of time to plan for the arrival of Odysseus.

Built a strong marble economy on the North central Island. That and olive oil funded my episode.

Requirements for Odysseus are:

 Excellent popularity
 Excellent city-wide health
 8 elite houses
 32 jugs of olive oil
 16 amphorae of wine

Instead of buying wine. First step was to build a Trireme and raid Marathon for wine. This successful raid resulted in the 16 amphorae of wine. The other on the list that was difficult to obtain was the 8 elite houses. These were accomplished by building in the Central Island. Space here was very limited but it was accomplished with relative ease.

The rest of the Odysseus requirements were relatively easy to obtain. Odysseus was called and quickly eliminated both monsters.

Final act was the building of Ares’ Fortress. This was done with ease, as I had plenty of marble, and built on the Northwestern Island. Once accomplished the final act was the conquering of Delos. With two Triremes, Ares’ solders, several companies, and Odysseus this wrapped up the game very nicely.

Sort of proud of the city. Take a look!

Good gaming,
Vriesea
