Iolcus:

The final version of Iolcus is much different from it's predecessors. I deleted one of my common housing blocks in episode 5, upgrading the remaining blocks by providing oil.

The elite housing block stems from an earlier episode, as do the sanctuaries to Athena and Hermes. I added the Grove of Dionysus to ensure a steady supply of wine (in addition to the oil provided by Athena), then set about bolstering my army. The extra labour obtained from upgrading housing allowed me to staff all of my three triremes, which proved useful in fighting off a few invasions from Lemnos.

The main money-spinner in the early episodes was the immense fleece industry residing on the uplands. Note that all the sheep supported by the carding sheds are in a tiny area of meadow (a favourite trick). A little wood and some oil were also sold whe possible.

Taxation was the major source of income in episode 5: quite a lucrative one at that. Having fulfilled most of the requirements at the start of the episode, the Sanctuary to Zeus remained as my last objective. I held off until I had reconquered Corinth. After completion, I hung around for a while to do a little more kicking. Lemnos fell after a few raids and an all-out assault with Triremes. I decided that was enough...
