Reunification, by Maggie

Adventure ID = 56
Date Submitted = 2001-06-05

Author's Description:

Reunification Introduction: "You come from an illustrious family - your brother Pericles of Iolcus, and your cousin Odysseus of Ithaca, are renowned rulers and heroes. They settled in the west, founding great cities. But, against all advice, you headed east and severed the family, perhaps forever."

Can you reunite your family?

This adventure is designed for all levels of players and, as usual, gives you plenty of room to build, and plenty of opportunities to make friends, irritate your enemies and fulfill several quests.

This file (Reunification.zip) contains the full adventure and the narration files for all the parent episodes. The narration files for the colony episodes are available as a second download: "Reuni-Sounds.zip." So if you want all the sound files for this adventure, you will have to download that file, too, and extract it into the /Reunification subdirectory.

Remember: To avoid the "open play" bug, make a COPY of the Reunification.pak file and place it in your /Adventures subdirectory.

I hope you enjoy Reunification! Your comments, as always, are most welcome.

Once again Maggi a great job on adventure creation. Totally enjoyable and certainly keeps me interested in providing audio with all future adventures. I loved the entire playout of the adventure and your thoughtful yet devious planning makes this one all the more enjoyable. Looking forward to more of your efforts.

The entry point on Cydonia is the little island to the north. You must connect it with a bridge to the mainland, and then your buildings will stay put.

The narrations for the colony episodes were zipped up in a separate file (because all the sound files for the full adventure created too big of an upload -- there's a two-meg limit for uploads at Zeus Heaven). The separate file is located in the "Misc. Downloads" section of the website. I'm not sure why they stuck it over there, but that's where you can find it. Just make sure to unzip that file into your /Reunification subdirectory and the colony narrations will play fine.

The adventure text before the colony is very very clear that finding a source of marble is the next strategic step in the adventure, so that it would be very difficult for players to be confused about which colony is supposed to come first. I needed the story to remain chronologically logical (with the escalation of the hositility coming from the western rivals), so I tried to minimize the possibility that the colonies would be played out of order.

Best,
Maggie

One quick question. I am on the cydonia ( episode2) and there is no road to entering the area. So it is impossible to build houses without them disappearing. where is it? As far as being forced to go to the cydonia level first, doesn't that void the point of the "choose" map situation. Would be upsetting to be sitting here for 4 hours and then realizing "hey i can't beat this level!" Also i noticed that the narration sounds did not work on episode 2. Bug maybe? I know it isn't my soundcard cause i got a SB live 5.1. Other than that the game is cool.

Amazing adventure Maggie, I just finished it!!! thanks a lot for that ;)

Just a little "negavite" comment... in this adventure you have to make 2 colonies, but it looked to me that, if you make 1 colony before the other, it's impossible to finish the adventure... I don't remember the names of the 2 colonies but I remember that 1 produces Marble, while the other one produces wood. If you choose the other plenty of trees first, then that city won't be able to buy any marble, since the seatrade is not working (It says it's a lake:( )

Again, thanks a lot for this city!

Yes, Popol, I know. It was, perhaps, a little evil of me to make it that way, but I wanted folks to play the colonies in the right order because of the escalating hostility of the Western rivals in the storyline.

So players are forced to colonize Cydonia first, before attempting Tenedos. Colony flexibility was sacrificed for the sake of storyline continuity.

I'm glad you enjoyed the adventure, despite this author's rotten trick with the colonies (grin).

Thanks,
Maggs

Great adventure, well planned and never gets boring! (Don't want to say why and give away anything!)

Is the zip file "Reuni-Sounds.zip" going to be posted? I can't find it.

I don't know why Reuni-Sounds.zip never got posted. I uploaded it; it was accepted; but it never showed up. I wrote an inquiry to Angel Draco a few days ago, but have not yet heard back.

Maybe I'd better try uploading it again.

Ah ha! Reuni-Sounds.zip, which contains the narration for the colony episodes, showed up on the "Miscellaneous" section of the Downloads.

So if you want the colony narration files for Reunification, please download them from the Misc. section.

Thanks
Maggie
