Oh-where do i began? Now that i finished..
You guys talk about being hard, being easy, being borded and having fun? You talk about God Invasions and City Invasions. You mention the one eyed fellar on the parent city map.
I think everyone is entitled to their own ideas, of what an adventure meant to them. BUT "this" one???? Has bested ole Granny! I managed to hang in their till the finish, (mumbling-i might add-along the way.) Maybe even grumble-ing, swear-ing, and just down rite screaming at times. I even thought about picking up my puter and tossing it out the window on this adventure, but then realized it would take me to long to unhook all the darn wires!
Ok-now don't jump to conclusions, when i say-This adventure wasn't easy for me, and wasn't fun. Let me explain: It was hard at times, and boring. It was good at times and challenging.
I got real tired of rebuilding the same things over and over every year. It gets old real quick with god invasions, Back to back and with three of them. You can't really do anything to defend yourself from them. Soooo set back and wait till they leave and rebuild again. This i found boring.
I liked the invasions from the other cities, but however, i could never fight all them, cause good ole Hades would always show up, every year in Sept. And you know anyone outside, well is dead. So my army had to hide. That meant "Bribe".
I had a hard time calling Odyssey-cause he wants great popularity and great city wide health, and we know what Apollo does to health, and the God Invasions drops popularity, cause people start moving out. I didn't blame them, i felt like moving out at times too!
I don't know why i had 3 colonies. My parent city had everything i needed. Two of them, paid me 100 gold as tribute, while the other paid urchin, which i could easily ask my sweet Poseidon for.
I got a lil tired of waiting on a quest to come up, they didn't show up till between 5-7 years into the episode. I would have all my other goals finished within 2-3 years. But i had the gods still invading to keep me busy rebuilding. (Even on colony's.)
As for that one-eyed monster on the parent city map, he gave me "No problem". I looked over the map and found a small foot island that i placed a double bridge to cross over to the northern land where the pit and ore was. Lured him over, and BINGO. Paused game and deleted both bridges. Felt sorta sorry for him, after awhile, cause he only had one square to move on! (Heheheh)..then i could build my city near the meadow.
Humm-about these God Invasions, every year back to back? Not just one God, but 3-Apollo, Demeter, and Hades. Zeus from time to time. But why every year? And why all three at the same time? Their were times when they invaded me, and my buildings still had a big purple cloud hanging over them, from where they had just invaded. They spent about 9-11 months doing damage, and only took a short break to rest up, b4 invading me again. Now i gotta question? WHY did the Gods attack me every year? I followed the storyline, and found out who kidnapped Penelope. But this don't explain "to me", why the Gods were sooooo PO'ed? Did i miss sumpen here? I wanna know what Penelope and Odyssey did to upset the Gods? Did Ulysses promise the Gods sumpen in return for their help? I understand why the Harpies came in three's, cause that was in the story.
I would luv to replay this one, but with less God Invasions. Maybe every three years would make a big differ. I really enjoyed the story, and the maps were great. I put alot of time and hours into playing this adventure. At times i thought to just hang it up, but i couldn't. It was like reading a good book, and i made it to the last chapter, so had to finish! I did enjoy it overall. But i don't think its easy! :)

hmmmm. Just one comment :)
I helped out with map design, and I did not design the adventure. :)
I hope to have something new soon as well.

I can understand what you mean, adorina. But all I wanted to say is that people may not be influenced by some (in my eyes undeserved) critics. Everybody has another opinion and another vision of what hard means, that's also what harry cleese said.
I certainly didn't think of this adventure as annoying, au contraire, I found it a great challange.
But then you have Maggie, Rainer and adorina, who think of this adventure as a thing wherefor you would buy some pills against stress.
Everyone should judge for himself or herself what he or she thinks of this adventure. If there were all bad critics, one would think that everyone finds this annoying (what I think it's totally not) and so, he won't play it. I just wanted to throw some weights in the scales, so everyone would at least try to play it.
Regards and sorry if my previous message seemed to harsh,

I too, can only side with Maggie here.
And Psyche, if anyone is handing out undeserved critisism here, it is you. Everybody is entitled to their opinions.
Maggie is one of the best mapmakers/adventure creators and she knows what she is talking about. (BTW. Maggie, any chance for some new adventures any time soon? *hint hint*)
This is not an adventure, this is a total overkill of all available events in the editor. I could hardly get anything done because of all the messages popping up here. Allies lined up to give you the boot, enemies tripping over each other wanting to conquer you, invading gods saluting each other as one leaves and another enters your city. And in the middle of it all a maniac monster flashing his buttcrack to your cattle and sheep and tearing down everything making it almost impossible to produce the required goods to summon the hero to kill him. And of course you can't buy the stuff you need because no one wants to trade with you for reasons unknown. Not that you would be able to get any trade ships through the blokade of enemy ships on their way to invade your city, but anyway...
The map is very bobT'ish and should provide all what is neccesary to make a great and challenging adventure, so why not make one that is playable?
I wanna play, not end up in the hospital with accute schizofrenia.

Come on Maggie, what for a girl are you??? Where's the Girl Power? You're not lazy, I hope (please, do not take this personal: I just can't stand undeserved critics). And Rainer (from the Cafè (Allo Allo)???), an adventure that is easy, gets boring very soon and is very unentertaining. An adventure that is too hard, is also unentertaining. The thing in the middle is perfect and this is what this adventure is: GREAT!
It's not because you have to use a strategy, that it's so hard to play this delightfull adventure. If you see that a certain monster will attack in the first episode in the early beginning, you can still restart the adventure and make sure that you put your buildings miles away fom the monster too minimalize the damage.
"Not too hard" does not mean that it's for beginners. It's a normal level, for people with a well thought-out strategy (which you should already have after having played a couple of adventures of Impressions Games).
The coast line and the ramps are (I think) made to limit the number of piers and a way to let you construct the city carefully (that's bobT's trade mark).
My opinion: the story is exciting, the map and episodes are challanging and the whole is lovely!
Zeus Heaveners, neglect those comments and download this adventure,

I told everyone that bobT did the maps for this Adventure and besides what one person may think is hard another may think it is not too hard. Besides as you get into the story you will understand the reason behind some of that stuff. If a monster is in a meadow land it makes it all the more reason to get the hero there faster to take care of the monster.

Um Harry -- "not too hard" means incessant invasions by rivals and opponent gods beginning immediately? A monster invasion in the first month (who arrives right on the only meadow in the whole map)? Resentful allies and trade stoppages right from the beginning?
Don't mislead people, please. This adventure is VERY hard. Not to mention that the map itself is as much an enemy as anything else, requiring walkers to hike enormous distances between all resources (including husbandry resources) and housing blocks. And that while most trading partners are sea-based and urchins are a food source, suitable coastline for building is almost non-existent, forcing you to rely on hunting lodges (whose hunters must also hike enormous distances) and the meadow-based food which, of course, is constantly threatened by the monster.
"Not too hard" is a grievous misnomer. Players should be warned that this adventure is NOT for the novice. I am certainly not a novice and this adventure borders on the "so hard it's not really any fun" variety because of its instant and incessant crises and its map, which is simply more of a bother than a challenge -- it is gratuitously difficult. With all of its elevations, its very few access ramps (which, of course, switch back and forth, forcing long detours), one gets the feeling that the creator was just trying to be cleverly cruel and impress us with how hard far he could make our workers walk and how frustrating it would be to collect any resources.
I was looking forward to what seemed like it would be an interesting tale of Odysseus and Penelope.
Yours disappointedly,
Maggie

Also I forgot to mention that bobT did these maps also! My apologies to bobT for omitting his name out of my original comments.
