| | Poseidon Six-Pack Eagle-eyed Laocon pointed this thread over at the official forum, in which King Kraken states that Poseidon will ship with a nice 6-pack of new adventure goodness:
Poseidon will ship with six all-new adventures, plus several new open-play adventures, if you prefer to stick with Impressions scenarios. |
| | No More Beta Signups As expected, today sees the closure of the application period for those interested in participating in the Poseidon beta test. This from the official site:
The Beta Sign-up period is now closed. Judging by the number of applications we received, you are just as excited about Poseidon as we are! If you were chosen to participate in the beta test, you have been notified by email. Thanks to all who applied! |
| | Cossacks for the taking Remember a post a few weeks ago about a Cossacks contest? Well, you can still sign up for a chance to become the lucky owner of a copy of Cossacks. All you have to do is sign up. |
| | The Clouds are Moving... I've been meaning to mention this for a couple of weeks or so now, but for some reason have kept forgetting. Must be a sign of getting old .
Angel Draco, one of the great stalwarts of the Citybuilding sites here at HeavenGames, and the man to blame for getting me involved in all this, has opened a new site under the Heaven umbrella. You might have already checked it out, but if you haven't, be sure to pay the old chap a visit at Age of Wonders Heaven. |
| | Want to Beta Poseidon? If so, then here's your chance:
Applications are now open for wannabe Beta Testers for Zeus Official Expansion: Poseidon, an add-on for our latest city-building hit: Zeus: Master of Olympus. We'll choose up to 250 people for a test period running from May 18th through June 1st. Sign up at http://beta.impressionsgames.com/poseidon/.
You must already own the North American version (United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia) of Zeus: Master of Olympus. We regret that logistics prevent us from opening this test to customers with other language versions of Zeus. We're looking for a wide assortment of different computer systems, ages and skill levels, and especially for the ability to write clear, succinct reports and suggestions.
If you are chosen, we'll e-mail you on May 1. You have to sign and return a standard Non-Disclosure Agreement, which is a legal promise not to talk about the Beta test. When we have that in hand, we'll send you pre-release builds of Poseidon for testing and evaluation. Everyone who contributes will get a free boxed copy of Poseidon when the game is finished. |
| | Poseidon Preview I noticed whilst broswing over at VE that Strategyplanet has posted a preview of Poseidon (the upcoming Zeus x-pack, if you've been away for the past week). |
| | Support Your Local Heaven Here's a request from Up High. We don't ask a lot of you, other than to behave nicely on the forums but we do have an other request. You can help us keep HeavenGames up and running by having a look at the following page: Heaven Games Merchant Partners.
So if you need to get something from one of our partners, please use the provided links, as they will help us to keep these sites from disappearing into oblivion.
Thanks! |
| | Poseidon Forum Redux - Racetracks Redux time again, as Kraken comments on the racetrack building, which will be present in Poseidon:
The Racetrack is among the larger innovations in Poseidon. Racetracks are an Aesthetic structure whose benefits increase with the track's length. Racetracks produce income for your treasury, among other effects. |

| | Poseidon Forum Redux I got back from Easter vac earlier today, and will be going through and responding to emails received since April 11th over the next couple of days, so if you're awaiting an answer, hang in there !
Well, the big news happened while I was away (Zeus add-on being announced, in case you've been out of action as well), so I figured I might hit the official forum to see if there were any goodies from the golden ones (or the blue ones, depending on which forums you frequent). Well, I wasn't disappointed - here's a little Q&A involving Kraken:
Q. Are there only 2 new gods, 3 new monsters, and 2 new heroes that will be added to the game? Or are there more? A. There are two new gods, four new monsters and two new heroes.
Q. Will all the old Gods, Heroes, and Monster be in the expansion as well? A. Yes.
Q. Why chose to eliminate the cultural objects from the game? A. Culture is still present in Greek cities. Science is more important to the Atlanteans. Culture is still in the game when you play Greek cities. Here's the thread that little exchange came from. You can also take a peek here for the following little tidbit:
Hera and Atlas are indeed present in Atlantis. Update: Kraken posted the following about extra types of fruit in Poseidon:
Oranges are a new food type, added for variety.
|
| | Another Heaven Well, we've opened another slice of Heaven: Age of Wonders Heaven. AoW is a fantasy, turn-based strategy game, based on the old Masters of Magic. Currently we host a bit of forum and scenario downloads, focusing on Play By Email games.
I also found out a little bit more about the Cossacks 'Contest'. Basically it's a free for all, luck of the draw contest. No tasks to perform, no puzzles to solve, or stores to write. Just sign up, and hope you're lucky |
| | Cossacks Contests There's a contest over on our sister site: Cossacks Heaven. I haven't quite been able to figure out what you have to do, but for prizes they are giving away five copies of Cossacks. I'll see if I can find some more information. To sign up details, click here. |
| | More gods and goodies I just recieved an email telling me Impressions have announced the Zeus Expansion: Poseidon. In Poseidon, players will build and rule the fabled cities of Atlantis, a kingdom of science and technology. They will mine the mysterious mineral "orichalc," establish colonies in ancient Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia, and trade with ancient civilizations. New industries, massive monuments, and characters unique to Atlantis expand the city-building experience presented in Zeus: Master of Olympus. Never-before seen gods, monsters, and heroes help tell the tale as players build Atlantis into a mighty kingdom. The expansion is planned for release this summer. Screenshots at Impressions and GameSpot show some interesting new features such as science, oranges and stone bridges.
Now when was summer supposed to be...? |
| | Gamasutra on Localisation What with this month and a half wait for the European version of the Enhancement Pack, I was interested to see whilst perusing VoodooExtreme that Gamasutra has posted an article on localising games for the European market: As the industry is slowly gearing up for the spring and cranking out those all-important E3 demos, this year's first Eurospeak delves into the issue of game localization; an issue that is becoming more and more important in the EU markets. |
| | Zeus Expansion on July 1st? Intertesting little tidbit here to keep you going today ...
Looking around on Amazon.com this afternoon, I turned up this page here. What's so special about it? Let me quote what's on the page:
Zeus Expansion Pack
Our Price: $19.99
Platform: Windows 95 / 98 / Me This item will be released on July 1, 2001. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives. Very interesting. It would seem to confirm the news we posted last week about a Zeus add-on being listed on a Swiss Sierra supplier's site. The most interesting part of all this, of course, is the release date they list - only 3 months away!
If you see any news or rumours about the mystery expansion, then please let me know . |
| | No Swedish EP Kraken was the bearer of unwelcome news to those of you out there with the Swedish version of Zeus when he posted the following bit of news in this thread on the official forum:
As I understand it, the localizers chose not to create a Swedish version of the Zeus EP. This was not Impressions' decision. We wish that it had been different, but localization is a separate business unit with its own budget to follow, and their budget for free products is minimal. |
| | Hard Times? Not if you win! The guys and gals over at CBC.net have unveiled their very first Zeus contest. So, if you fancy getting your hands on some signed Zeus posters, move your mouse this way to enter. |
| | International EP Out The international versions of the Zeus Enhancement Pack, containing the Adventure Editor, some more sandbox games, and one complete new adventure, are now available for download. Click here to check them out. |
| | Compete like an Egyptian This newsflash is brought to you courtesy of our sister site Pharaoh Heaven:
Registration is now open for our latest Pharaoh competition, brought to you courtesy of Angels Gustavia and Baltic, and Cherub Bradius. Click here to find what it's all about, and head over here to register your interest in participating.
Good luck ! |
