After hearing about the 20,000 needed to help Imoen, The Copper Coronet is the best place to start. As you enter this place, you should be approached by 2 individual people (Nalia and Lord Jierdan). Both will have troubles in their homeland, and both will ask for your assistance. Nalia will join your group if you allow her (suggested... For now at least). After you have spoken with both Nalia and Lord Jierdan, head over and speak with Lehtinan. He is the current owner of the Copper Coronet, and he is in charge of who gets into the back rooms to watch the "Special Entertainment". You will find 3 people in this area who would be willing to join your group. You will have to "pick and choose" who you want and who you do not want. The suggested member is Nalia. She will ask you to assist her (quest), and then you can dump her after that has been done. You can return to add someone else later if you like.

Also, you should be able to pick up a good sized quest while inside this area, and if you choose to accept it, the quest will extend to other areas as well. Read through the walkthrough below, and decide what you are up to doing, and what you would like to pass up on.

(1) Nalia - Nalia will approach you in search of a group of warriors who would help her family defend their home from the onslaught of attacking Trolls. This quest is optional, but highly suggested. You will need the cash if you are to free Imoen. Nalias quest will take you to De'Arnise Keep.

(2) Lord Jierdan - This fellow is offering 10,000 gold if you would be so kind as to free his homeland. He will make the task sound simple enough, and in our situation, we really should accept. He will mark the Windspear Hills location on the map for you.

(3) Tiana - In the middle of the Copper Coronet, you will meet a very angry lady named Tiana. She is enraged about her husbands girlfriend, and she is here to find him. Later, when you go upstairs, you will meet a man named Rumor and his girlfriend Priss. If you return to Tiana to tell her where Rumor is located, she will storm upstairs and confront Priss. The two will fight to the death, and to the victor goes the "Rumor". You will not gain anything from doing this (except for a few laughs), but you will be able to loot the body of the loser.

If Tiana wins, Rumor will be thrilled that she fought for him and then return home with her.

If Priss wins the fight, she will demand that Rumor run off and marry her this instant.

Tiana will drop 8 gold and Priss will drop a low level spell scroll (they both will drop a dagger).

(4) Korgan - Quietly sitting in the corner, near the "Pit", you can find Korgan. If you play the conversation right, he will tell you about the Book of Kaza. He will want to join your group as well. However, if you plan to help Nalia, but you haven't yet, you may want to skip Korgan for now. Don't worry, we can return for him later. I suggest that you do not even speak to Korgan until after you have completed Nalias quest (If you accepted her quest).

(5) Lehtinan - You will need to speak with Lehtinan if you want to check out the rooms behind the Copper Coronet (the "Special Entertainment"). You will gain a new quest by gaining his permission. Lehtinan will play a larger roll in the quest that unfolds in this area (re: Hendaks Quest).

(6) Bernard - Strolling around near the entrance to the Copper Coronet is Bernard. He is the areas "Shopkeeper". He is also the Tavern Keeper and the Bartender. If you check the items that Bernard has for sale, you should find that he has some really rare items, ranging from magic weapons to powerful spell scrolls. [Note: If you plan to buy anything of value from Bernard, hold out until later when he will offer you a large discount].

(7) Near the "Pit", you can speak with a man named Amalas. You will need to have your main character do the talking, or nothing will happen. When you do speak with him, he will be very insulting, and attempt to "bait" you into an argument. If you stand up to him, he will challenge you to a "Pit Fight". Upon Amalases defeat, you will gain near 10,000 exp. After the Pit Fight, you will be removed from the arena, where you will be unable to loot the dead corpse. If you suffer Amalases insults and then back down, Minsc will outright attack him. If Minsc wins, you will gain 1800 exp and you will be able to loot the corpse.

(8) After gaining permission to enter the back rooms, you may enter an area where you are not welcome. The guards will be quick to "force" you to exit the area. You will need to take them out. Once the area is clear, check the Slave Cells in the rear area. You will meet a "Warrior Slave" named Hendak. He is being held as a slave, and is forced to fight in the pit for amusement. He will give you a quest to free him and the other slaves. You can accept or refuse the quest. If you decide to take the quest, you can do one of two things.

(8-a) Do as Hendak suggested, and find the Beastmaster behind the arenas.

(8-b) Return to Lehtinan and tell him of Hendaks plans.

If you decide to return and speak with Lehtinan, he will give you the Slave Cell Key. However, he will also ask that you go back and kill Handak. You can do the "evil" thing and kill Hendak, or the "good" thing and free him. We suggest (as we will assume) that you did the later (free him).

(9) To free the Slaves, you need to locate the Beastmaster at location 9. He will have the Slave Key, but he will not just hand it over to you. When you approach him for it, he will let loose the "beasts" that he is the "master" of. Be prepared to be attacked en-mass. [Tip: The use of Charm or Stinking Cloud spells can work wonders in this fight]. Once the "smoke clears", loot the corpse of the Beastmaster. You should find the Slave Cell Key and the "Tuigan Bow +1". If you didn't choose to attack the Beastmaster for the exp, then the bow alone in worth the effort (can we say... 3 shots per round?).

(10) Secret entrance to the Sewers.

Follow ups: After you free Hendak from his cell, he will run to confront Lehtinan. At this point, all of the guards in the place will become hostile towards you. You need to make your way to the front of the Copper Coronet so that you can watch Hendak take care of Lehtinan. [Note: Be careful of who you attack. Some of the Peasants (namely, the ones inside the secret room) will become hostile towards you if they witness you attacking the guards. If you counter attack the Peasants, your Reputation will drop dramatically.] After Hendak finishes with Lehtinan, he will ask that you continue to free the slaves. Apparently, there are even more being held on the "Slavers Ship". Hendak will tell you that you can find a secret entrance from inside the Copper Coronet (suggested route).

Also: You may meet a knight named Anomen while you are in the Copper Coronet. If you show a high level of courage, he will request to join your group. It is up to you if you would want him in it or not. On the bright side... You can return later to add him if you should change your mind. Anomen is a very strong Paladin, and with him in your party, you will gain a quest later in the game.
