As soon as you
enter the Illithid Tunnels, you will be captured and thrown into the
Illithid jail. Once captured, the Illithids force their prisoners to fight
other prisoners for their amusement.
1.
Your Jail Cell: When you arrive here, you will be locked in tight. A Ogre Jailer will show up after a couple of minutes and open the
door to your cell. He will then take you to the Arena (at location 3) to
fight against a few Umber Hulks. After the fight, you will be returned
to your cell.
2.
At this point you will need to open the door leading to jail
cell #2 and then speak with Simyaz, Leader of the Githyanki group.
Together, you can come up with an escape plan. Once the plan is set, you
will need to return to your cell. The Ogre Jailer will return and take
you back to the Arena.
3.
When you enter the Arena for the second time, a group of Kuo-Toa will
attack. You need to kill them so that the Githyanki can concentrate on
the Illithid spectators. Once the Kuo-Toa have been dealt with, head for
the door towards the east. You will need to pick or bash the lock to get
it open.
4.
Once you are out of the Arena, you will need to deal with the
Ogre Guard. Do not mistake him for a normal Ogre; this guy is strong.
Once he is dead, check the table in the room for the "Hilt of
the Equalizer". Once you have the Hilt, head through the door
leading towards the east.
5.
When you enter this room, you will find a lone Mind Flayer.
Take him out, and then check out the red cauldrons. If you click on one
of them (any of them) you can gather some "Illithid Serum".
You may want to hurry; The Illithid will respawn shortly (and no, you do
not want to kill it over and over... You can do that later if you wish,
but for now, we need to keep a few of them alive (he respawns a limited
number of times)". Take the Serum and return to the Jail Cell room. From the Jail Cell room, open the door
leading towards the south.
6.
On the way to room #6, you will run into a couple of Mind Flayers. Be
ready for them... Once the path is clear, enter room #6. If you look
around the room a little, you will see a bunch of Slaves on beds, with a
machine of some sort in-between the beds. If you click on the machine,
you will be able to empty the Illithid Serum into the fluid that is
being pumped into the Slaves. This will release them from their
"Endless Illithid Nightmare". When they awake, they will tell
you the purpose of the larger machine that is in the room. You need to
go over to the machine and click it a few times to gain "Control
Circlets". You can gain 4 Circlets in total. The Circlets will allow
you to "control" the Illithids.
7.
After gathering up the Control Circlets, head for room #7.
Check the wall for the "Methild's Harp". Also, notice
that you can not open either of the 2 doors in this room. That is where
the "Control Circlets" come in. You will need to return to
room #5 and place a Circlet on the respawning Illithid. This will allow
you to control his movements. Take him back to room #7 and have him open
the door for you (the "Brain Doors" can only be opened by an
Illithid). If you have trouble placing the Circlets on the Illithid, try
using your "Hide in Shadows" skill, or an Invisibility
spell or Potion. Put a Circlet into one of your "Quick Item Slots" and then sneak
in next to the Illithid and slap the Circlet onto it.
Anyway, once
you open the door, your control over the Illithid will break, and it will attack you. Once you kill the Illithid, the Githyanki will warp
into the room and tell you that they are making a break for it... And
they are not taking you with them.
8.
At room #8, you will be ambushed by a group of Illithids. They will not
show up until your main character is within a short range of the room.
Once you get close, the Illithids will warp in and attack. I suggest
that you save your game before you try to enter room #8.
9.
After the Illithid ambush, head up to room #9. You will need to deal
with a few more Illithids inside of this room. Once the place is clear,
go to each of the cauldrons and gather a "Brine Potion".
There are 8 cauldrons, so you can gather 8 Brine Potions in total. These
Brine Potions will protect you from the mental spells of the Illithids.
Drink a potion and you will have about 1 minutes worth of control
immunity.
10.
Room 10 is basically just an intersection room. There are 2 Illithids in
this room. Once they are dead, you can head north to the "Master
Brain", or south to the Torture Chamber. There is also a secret
door from this room that will lead to room #12.
[Note: I
entered this room to find 12 Illithids and 4 Umber Hulks. My group was
dire charmed, stunned, energy drained and I was killed in under 2
seconds. - Submitted by Vesselle
(Thanks for the Warning)].
With that said, use extra caution. The amount of monsters at a location
is often found to be random, and based on difficulty setting.
11.
In this room, you will find 3 Torture Chambers. When you open one of
them, something will come out and attack you. A Gnome will come out of
one, and when he dies, he will drop the "Ring of Fire Control".
12.
Inside the "Secret Room", you will find the Staff of
Command on the table.
13.
The Master Brain can be found in room 13. To open the door leading to
room #13, you will need to capture another Illithid. Before you enter
this room, drink some of the Brine Potion that you gathered in room
#9.
When you enter the Room with the Brain in it, you will be attacked by 2
Mind Flayers, 2 Brain Golems, and the Master Brain himself. Just ignore
the Flayers and the Golems, and go directly for the Master Brain. The
other monsters in this room will respawn over and over again, until the
Master Brain is dead. Kill the brain,
grab the "Elder Brain Blood", and then head for the
area marked "Exit".
When you get
to the exit, you will find the group of Slaves that you set free. They
will thank you and then tell you that if you ever see them again on the
surface, they will owe you big time.
Now that you
have the Elder Brain Blood, you need to return to the Drow
City, and give the Blood to the Matron Mother inside the Temple.
