Town Guide (cont.) Deyja/The Pit Deyja is where you get your first taste of civilized evil. This area is populated by goblins, but they won't attack you on sight. On the contrary, they welcome you to their humble homes. Indeed, humble they are. The houses and general area don't seem to be nearly as well-kept or advanced as the ones in Steadwick in Erathia or Pierpont in the Tularean Forest. There are two makeshift goblin cities in Deyja. One lies on the roads and is situated in the south of the map. The other is past treacherous peaks and valleys and lies in the far northwest corner of the map. However, these two settlements are primitive compared to the true civilization that lies here: The Pit of Deyja. To get there, you must find the cave entrance to this underground town, and it lies in a small hole in the northeast area of the map.
When you first enter this territory from Erathia, you'll encounter wandering harpies, which infest the mountains of this land. However, as you travel east on the road toward the first town, you'll be accosted by a necromancer. He demands a 1,000 gold toll for crossing the road. If you don't pay up, 20 zombies will attack you, ten in front and ten from behind. If you pay, the zombies will never appear again. However, if you refuse, every time you pass this way again, they'll come and demand toll. Keep that in mind when visiting Deyja. As with the Barrow Downs and Stone City entry, we've combined the Deyja and Pit entries because they both belong together. To help you determine whether a quest or area belongs in the Pit or Deyja, we've included the appropriate location in parentheses after each entry. We'll list the upperland Deyja areas first and then cover the Pit areas.
