Skills Guide (cont.) Identify Monster Identify monster isn't quite as useful as identify item. It operates in much the same way; higher-level monsters require higher-level skills to be properly identified. However, different skill levels also reveal different amounts of information. You don't really need this skill because in the end, you can just kill all the monsters you meet. But if you want to know such information as hit points, armor class, and attack, this skill is useful. The most useful information, such as resistances and immunities, isn't available until you are a grandmaster in this skill. Sorcerers and rangers can become grandmasters in this skill, and only one of these two characters should have this skill. As with identify item, only one character needs this skill. Normal level:
Learn hit points and armor class of monster Learning Learning is a skill that only benefits the character who has it. However, it is a great benefit indeed. Even at the most basic level, this skill increases the amount of experience you earn from kills and quests. All your characters should pick this skill up as soon as you arrive in the Emerald Isle. Don't choose this as one of your initial skills, since you can learn it later on and other more expensive skills are better learned when you first create your character. But if you want to advance in levels a little more quickly, go to the self guilds and pick this skill up as soon as you can. Monks, who are always seeking self-improvement, can become grandmasters in this skill. Sorcerers, druids, clerics, and archers can become masters. The amount of the experience bonus is equal to a base 9 percent bonus plus your skill level. This skill level is doubled or tripled for higher expertise levels. The base 9 percent bonus always stays the same though. Normal level:
Skill increases amount of experience received (9 percent+skill)
