Skills Guide (cont.)

Bow

The bow skill is essential for survival in the Erathian wilderness. Especially at lower levels, you want to whittle away at your foes as much as possible before closing in on them. The bow skill should be learned by all your characters. Everyone can use it. The monk and sorcerer are the poorest in bow ability, but even they can fire a bow and arrow and provide limited ranged attack. The archer is the only class that can learn up to grandmaster ability in this skill. The ranger can become a master. Make sure you pick this skill up in the Emerald Isle because it is not available in Harmondale or Stone City.

Normal level: Skill added to attack bonus
Expert level: Skill reduces recovery time
Master level: Bow fires two arrows on every attack
Grandmaster level: Skill added to damage
Where you learn it: Emerald Isle weapons shop
Where you upgrade to expert level: Smiling Jack's, Bracada; Suretrail Home, Pierpont (Tularean Forest)
Where you upgrade to master level: Lanshee's House, Mount Nighon
Where you upgrade to grandmaster level: Mark Manor, Harmondale

Chain

Chain is the middle ground between leather and plate. In terms of protection, it is better than leather and worse than plate. As for slowing you down, it is faster than plate, but slower than leather. The archer can become a grandmaster in chain.

Normal level: Skill added to armor class
Expert level: Armor recovery penalty halved
Master level: Armor recovery penalty eliminated
Grandmaster level: Receive 2/3 damage from physical attacks
Where you learn it: Armor shop
Where you upgrade to expert level: Tricia's House, Tatalia; Bith Residence, Pierpont (Tularean Forest)
Where you upgrade to master level: Infernon's House, Avlee
Where you upgrade to grandmaster level: Nevermore's House, Deyja

Next: Dagger and dark magic
