Plot Overview (cont.) A month or so after this time, you will get another message, telling you that the arbiter, Judge Grey, has passed away. As the arbiter resides in Harmondale, you have been asked to select a replacement. This is a timed event, so don't worry about having to speak to any particular NPC to learn of this important event and quest. At this point, you can make another critical choice. This time, instead of choosing between the elves and humans, you must choose between good and evil. Your choice of arbiters determines your allegiance to good or evil.
One arbiter is Judge Fairweather, who hails from the wizard-controlled desert of Bracada and represents the forces of good. The other arbiter is Judge Sleen, who is a member of the Necromancers of Deyja and represents the side of evil. All you must do to choose a successor is journey to the appropriate inn in the respective territory and bring that judge back to the arbiter's house in Harmondale. If you choose Fairweather, you have chosen the path of light. If you choose Sleen, you have chosen the path of dark. You'll get treated to a second cutscene that shows you the future you have chosen. Judge Fairweather negotiates a peaceful resolution between elves and humans. Judge Sleen, on the other hand, allows war to prevail and ensures that his necromancer friends add the fallen warriors to their undead hordes. Now the game diverges, and you can play two different tracks, depending on your choice of good or evil. If you chose good, you are asked to meet with Gavin Magnus in the floating city of Celeste. If you chose evil, you are asked to meet with Archibald Ironfist in the Pit of Deyja. In either case, you are asked to perform a variety of quests to prove your worthiness to either side.
