Skills Guide (cont.)

Sword

The sword is the knight's ultimate weapon. You will find more swords in the game than any other weapon. It is an all-around good weapon, with excellent speed and damage, although it isn't as damaging as the axe or mace. The variety of swords is quite extensive, with sabers, cutlasses, two-handed swords, and the like turning up in your travels. Only the knight can become a grandmaster in the sword. At this level, you can wield a sword in one hand and do some excellent damage. Knights that have master skill in spear and sword can wield one in each hand. Paladins and thieves can become masters with the sword. Thieves with mastery in sword and dagger can wield a sword and dagger in each hand.

Unarmed

The unarmed style of fighting is the province of the new monk class. While the knight and a few others can learn it, there is no need for anyone except the monk to actually use this skill. Everyone else should concentrate on mastering their given weapons of choice. The monk through steady practice can do more and more damage with his empty hands. Except for one exception explained later, this skill does not work when a weapon is being used. At higher levels of expertise, the monk can use this skill in conjunction with a staff and also use this skill to evade attacks. Only the monk can become a grandmaster in this skill.

Water Magic

Water magic is an elemental school of magic that offers a great spell selection. Two teleportation spells, Lloyd's Beacon and Town Portal, are in this school of magic as well as some offensive spells like ice bolt and poison spray. The helpful water walking spell is also here. Sorcerers, druids, archers, and rangers can learn this skill. Only sorcerers can become grandmasters, and only druids and archers can become masters.
