Character Creation
(cont.)
Physical Party
Knight/Monk/Thief/Ranger
If you want to create a party of bruisers, you could do worse than a party
composed of a knight, monk, ranger, and thief. You could of course go
with all knights, but that would be foolish. With this physical party,
you get a wide range of skills as well as some magic use and thieving
abilities. The knight and monk are the game's two strongest physical warriors,
with a great amount of hit points and high-damage melee attacks. The ranger
can also do fairly well in melee and is second only to the archer in terms
of long-range attack. The thief is also deadly in combat, if you can bring
his dagger skill to grandmaster level, and gets a good number of hit points.
The thief also provides vital disarming and stealing skills.
This party has access to a
good range of skills as well. As this party is low on healing, you could
swap out the ranger for a paladin and thus retain good combat skills while
gaining a healer. However, you would lose the ranger's bow skill. Or you
could drop the ranger in favor of a druid if you wanted more magic power.
Of course the druid can't make up for the ranger's melee or bow strength,
but it would provide some much-needed magic ability.
Pros:
Brutal melee attacks; very high hit points; good thieving skills; can
learn nearly all skills
Cons: Very weak in magic; very poor healing; no alchemy skill
Next: Long-range party and other variations
