After
defeating Irenicus at the Tree
of Life, You will be sucked into hell along with him. That is... You
and your group. Do not worry about the members who fell in the fight
with Irenicus. If you look to the feet of your main character, you will
find all of their items. Further, everyone will be at full health, and
all of their memorized spells will be refreshed and ready to go. The
downside is... You will be unable to save your game or rest. Your game
should have made an "Autosave" just as you entered Hell. You
will need to use that as a way to restore your game if you should find
the need. For
this area, you will need to pass 5 "Trials". Each have their
own purpose, and each have a "good-guy" answer and a
"Bad-guy" answer. The answers that you give have very powerful
effects on your main character. For this reason, you should try to
answer the questions according to your character. If you play good,
answer the questions as you would believe that a good person would. If
you are playing evil, then answer then as evilly as you can. If you do
the "Evil" thing, then the Tear that you gain will be tainted
by evil. If you do the "Good" thing, then the Tear that you
gain will be blessed by goodness. With that said... 1.
Trial of Wrath: When you enter this area, you will be greeted by
Sarevok. He will fill you in on your situation in Hell. He will tell you
that you need to find five "Tears of Bhaal". During the
conversation, Sarevok will try and tempt you into attacking him out of
"wrath". The Effects are:
Good-Guy
- Refuse to give into your rage - You will still need to kill
Sarevok. Evil-Guy
- Kill Sarevok out of wrath - You will gain the ability to change
into the Slayer at will (if you have not already gained the ability).
After the
fight ends (Good or Evil), you will gain the first of Bhaals Tears. 2.
Trial of Greed: When you enter this area, you will be greeted by
"Greed". He will offer you the "Blackrazor +4"
sword. He leaves it up to you how you go about gaining the Bhaals Tear
from the Enslaved Genie at the back of the room.
Good-Guy
- Give the Blackrazor to the Enslaved Genie - Pleasure in knowing that
you did the right thing. Evil-Guy
- Use the Blackrazor to kill the Enslaved Genie - You will be able to
keep the Blackrazor sword.
3.
Trial of the Selfish: When you enter this room, a
Demon will
give you a choice of two doors. The door to his left will be the
"Selfless Door", and the door to the right will be the
"Selfish Door".
Good-Guy
- Take the door to the left - You will permanently lose 2hp, 1 point
to your Dex, and 75,000 exp. [Note: If you are already at the
"Exp Cap", and you have gained more then 75,000 exp after
reaching the cap, you will not loose any apparent exp. Evil-Guy
- Take the door to the right - One of your party members will be
killed so that you will not be harmed.
4.
Trial of Fear: In this area, a Demon will offer a Cloak to you. The
Cloak will prevent you form being afraid. You will have the choice to accept
the Cloak or face your fears on your own. You will then need to walk
along the left side of the room (Beholders and Gauths guard the right
side) and click on the Crystal at the back of the room. This will gain
you the Bhaal Tear. There is also a chest in this room. The chest is
locked and trapped.
Good-Guy
- Face your fears, reject the Cloak - You can use spells such as
"Bless" or "Courage" to help you through this. Or
if you have an item that makes you immune to the effects of fear, use
it. To
pull off the "Good-Guy" path, all that you need to do is
reject the offer on the Cloak. Evil-Guy
- Accept the Demons offer, and take the Cloak. You will not feel any
effects from fear, and you will be able to keep the Cloak.
5.
Trial of Pride: In this area, you will meet a Demon named Pride. He
will tell you a lot about yourself, but he does so as an attempt to
"pull your Pride". He wants you to kill the "Beast" for him. You
can accept, or you can question him for reasons for why you should kill
the Beast.
Good-Guy -
Ask the Dragon for the Tear. He will hand it over to you. Evil-Guy
- Tell the Pride Demon that you will kill the Beast - You will
have to fight the Dragon.
After you have
all 5 of Bhaals Tears, you need to return to the door where you entered
Hell at. You will see 5 eyes which hold the door locked tightly. Each
time that your main character clicks an eye, he gains the effects of each
of the Tears. Now... Depending on the Tear being Blessed or Tainted,
the effects for each Tear change. 1.
First Tear:
Blessed
Tear - Immunity to +1 or lower weapons Tainted
Tear - +2 to CON
2. Second
Tear:
Blessed
Tear - +10% resistance to magic Tainted
Tear - +2 to AC
3. Third
Tear:
Blessed
Tear - +2 to all saving throws Tainted
Tear - +15 hit points
4. Fourth
Tear:
Blessed
Tear - +20% resistance to Fire, Cold, and Electricity Tainted
Tear - 200,000 exp
5. Fear
Tear:
Blessed
Tear - +1 to WIS and +1 to CHA Tainted
Tear - +2 STR
After you
insert the final Tear, Irenicus will enter the area. Again... After a
little dialogue, the fighting will begin. This time around, Irenicus
will summon 4 Demons at the start of the fight (before you have control
over your group). Protection from Evil is a must. If you cast this spell
before opening the last eye, it will be dispelled before the fighting
begins. For this reason, you should summon 5 strong summoned creatures.
These things can draw the Demons attention until you can prepare for the
battle. As
soon as the fighting begins, have all 6 of your group members flee
directly towards the south. Once you are out of the range of the Demons,
cast your "Protection from Evil" spells. Do this as quickly as
possible. Once you are set, head for the right-hand side of the main
area. You will find the "Slayer" there (or he will show up
soon enough). Once he arrives, you should be able to fight him alone
(without his Demons). Just be sure to keep the Protection from Evil up
(do not let the spell expire). Use any spells that you have that can
take down the Shielding on the Slayer (Ruby Ray of Reversal, Pierce
Magic, and Lower Resistance). Also... Summoning Spiders can work wonders.
If you have 2 characters that can cast the Summon Spider spell 4 or more
times each, then you can just "Spider Bomb" the Slayer.
This will work at least until his Sanction Spell ends. Once the Sanction
Spell falls, you will be able to send your fighters in to finish the
Slayer off. Know
this... The Slayer regenerates his hit points at an alarming rate. To
kill him, you will need to be hitting him with everything that you have
got, and doing it the whole battle. You should try to save some of your
resources until after the Slayers Shielding and Sanctuary spells have
fallen. Use summoned monsters to keep him busy until then. Anyway,
when Irenicus falls, you will watch a very "Wickedly
Rewarding" ending movie. Sit back and enjoy... You have earned it. Congratulations This
was one hell of a game! Tribe
