Sorcerer
Character ClassBeing
a student of the mystical arts, what the Sorcerer
lacks in the way of brawn he more than makes up
for with superior magical powers. The Sorcerer is
the most challenging and most sophisticated
character class, and has the widest assortment of
attacks at his disposal. Needless to say, the
Sorcerer must constantly strive to improve his
magic. Strength is of secondary importance,
because a Sorcerer must be properly protected.
Dexterity and vitality are not particularly
useful to the high-level Sorcerer; dexterity,
though related to armor class, is in large part
reserved for ranged weapons and high to hit
percentages, neither of which is the magic user's
concern. The Mana Shield spell, the Sorcerer's
lifeline, effectively converts his Mana into life
thus eliminating the need for improving his
vitality. The Sorcerer is only as good as his
spells; he must make an effort to hunt down and
read as many spell books as possible, and as his
mastery over his spells increases so does his
potency in battle. In addition to Mana Shield,
the Sorcerer will grow to appreciate the
Fireball, Chain Lightning, and Stone Curse
incantations most of all. Of secondary importance
are Firebolt, Lightning, and Firewall. Similar to
the Warrior's repair skill, the Sorcerer can
recharge any spell staves he encounters at the
cost of reducing their maximum number of charges.
The Sorcerer earns one life point and two
magic points automatically each time he gains an
experience level. He fires off spells much faster
than the other character classes, though his
physical attack and hit recovery is twice as slow
as the Warrior's. The Sorcerer is also
incompetent with ranged weapons, though his
magical attacks should eliminate the need for
them.
