ARR: On to a bit of war-related chat now. Are you limited to 6 legions, as you were in C3?

Alex: I’m not sure if you’re going to be able to have more. We certainly have a larger RAM requirement than we did for C3, so it’s possible. We probably also won’t be including a physical sprite limit. Instead, you’ll be able to grow your city until it’s as large as your computer can handle.

ARR: How about ships? Are they limited? Do they require resources to build?

Alex: Sure, you’ll need a wharf, shipyard and a ready supply of timber. As for any limit on numbers, I’m not certain right now.

ARR: How about the military units – do more become available as time marches on? Chariots only after the Hyksos for example?

Alex: You certainly don’t get all the military units right at the very start. Initially you’re only worried about survival, so there’s not much time for conquest. All the elements of gameplay are introduced gradually. In terms of evolution, your units get experience as they fight and win victories – they get better at fighting, and are less likely to run away.
