Now that I'm on the other side of the island, how do I get back to the first side?
Have you explored around the pool where you reached the other side of the island?
To the left of that pool is a tall palm tree.
If you examine it, you'll find that it's not doing so well.
In fact, you could probably kick it over and form a bridge by using it.
Once you do that, you won't need to ride the lava log ride any more. You can use the tree bridge to move freely from one side of the island to the other.
