Desc: Imagine yourself at the south coast of Italy. The scenic coastline seems an idyllic place to settle. The coast is ragged, and rocky in places. The road from Rome forks into endless paths into the wilderness. Just of the coast are islands, some large enough to settle, some perhaps too small. Caesar understands the cost of bridging these islands, and has given you generous funds for engineering. Only settlers come from Rome, not traders, who prefer sea routes. A deep ocean channel leads along the coast from the north, with many natural coastal harbors. Sailing times to destinations further south can be long at times. Fishing can be a flourishing industry, in the plentiful waters. Take care not to fish the inland rocky pools, which have some drinking water, but no fishing grounds. Rocks present a good defensive barrier, but they have no useful ores, and cannot be mined. Some islands offer fertile farmland. In the hot climate you may grow vines, which even the sea merchants cannot find elsewhere. The islands are popular coastal property, leading to a number of invasion attempts, so prepare well. Although the rocks, sea, and lakes may slow down the invaders, they are sure to trespass over your new bridges! Oh, and don't forget that some people already live here. They don't speak Latin yet, but I'm sure you can help.
