Creator: Pinkus the Onoculator           Scenario: Northland

Overall - 2.6      2 - Balance
Playability - 2      3 - Map Design
Creativity - 4      2 - Story/Instructions

Empire Area: Carthago Nova
Rank: Aedile
Goals to Win:  none

The idea of building a terrific moated city ala Camelot is a good one, but I feel Pinkus' effort here could have been more detailed and better thought-out. As promised in his instructions, he does give us a moated terrain to build this fabled city, with some nicely placed water sources in the interior (I liked that touch). But what about some levels, Pinkus? Maybe it's just me, but I see Camelot soaring upwards, tiers of palaces, rising to the pinnacle of my own personal palace. It wouldn't have taken much to add this...

Obviously, since there are no victory requirements, this is intended to be a city-building exercise for the sheer pleasure of it. The scenario does include some attacks, however (these are few and far between) as well as numerous calls to send armies elsewhere. I guess the idea is that you ignore those calls and Caesar sends his thugs to get you. But there's just no way they're gonna get across that moat...
