On this map it is possible to do pretty much anything.  There are a significant number of trade routes open, plenty of room in which to develop a large city on the flatlands, water for fishing, some good military attacks, and a few varied requests by The Drunken One.

The win conditions are fairly difficult, including a 75 Prosperity requirement.  However, the most difficult condition to achieve will be the 25,000 population.  With the sprite limits, you'll have to build a dense city to make it happen.  The funds provided at the start are fairly generous, but not much more follows, so you need to learn to make money quickly.

Despite the fact that almost anything can happen on this map, the designer was quite fair about giving the player time to recuperate.  A strong attack may hit you, but it won't be followed up by six more during the next six years.  (That doesn't mean that you won't get a sizeable request for goods somewhere in there.)

It's a central region scenario, so the wheat production bonus is in effect, and the player can make almost any good without relying on too many imports.   There are natives to contend with, but they don't interfere too much with early development.  They do gaurd farmland, though, so you'll need to teach them a little Latin at some point.

All in all, a good, varied map.  It falls right in between a solid peaceful map and a difficult military map, so the military purist will be challenged by the city development, while a city developer will be challenged by the difficult attacks.  However, if you like a mix of both, you'll probably have fun.
