Desc: Designed and implemented this one in pretty
straight-forward fashion, in about two days. The only really big key was to build the
docks on the mainland side so that wheat and clay imports don't slow you down so much that
it kills your supply chain. Went against my basic strategy of keeping things compact this
time, and tried the "string of pearls" configuration that I had thought of as
early as Capua. Back then there was no gatehouses to make this happen. It worked well
here, although I learned the hard way that schools and temples only seem to offer their
services to houses that are within approx. 20 tiles of road. This lesson regarding school
and temple service "range" also made me veer away from the "g" block
which I had thought to be a super idea.
Notes:
the towers alone were once again sufficient to repel all invaders; the iron mine by itself
on the smaller island, which served just one purpose: to pile up the iron for Caesar; the
docks on the mainland side - first time I tried the level I had the docks on the island
and it was bad because wheat imports was slowing everything down; the villa area was nice,
although I had a nagging suspicion that I could do a lot better, and I was right. See
Valentia...
