Creator: Marty Party City: Lugdunum from Procurator Rank Career Scen

Desc:
Read the horror stores on the Forum, downloaded some save files from others, and I was not at all intimidated by this level. The "scruficus1.sav" version of Lugdunum impressed me a great deal, in terms of how short a time this person took to finish the level (17 game years). Until this level, I had been spending a fair while playing each level, but I think this level was where my playing approach matured a lot, and I started getting through levels really quickly. Lugdunum only took me a day and a half of playing time. I didn't manage to beat the 17 game years record, but I did do it in about 22 years, which still wasn't bad, considering I still managed to pay myself the maximimum salary most of the time, and I also stuck with a couple of bad decisions I made with regards to where my initial population was built.

Some tips: use the javelins to kill the wolves. I tried towers, but they took a lot longer, and this allowed some wolves to be reborn. Notice how little area my housing area actually takes up. The two "g" shaped blocks were all that's "theoretically" required to virtually meet the population objective. By placing these two housing blocks between the two farming areas, I didn't actually have much problems of any kind when it came to feeding my people.

At one stage I was a bit worried about the prosperity rating, so I stocked up some food and other goodies near the southwest. Thankfully I didn't have to make another run at building villas. I just had to demolish every tent in the city once the peace rating was met, and I just scraped in on the 50 prosperity rating.

Once again, like with Miletus, I used a separate area to build all the theaters, schools, libraries, entertainment etc. that are required to meet the culture rating. Looking back at it, this was a huge key to this level, because by doing this it took a LOT of heat off my housing development projects (they did not require as much space).

I also built the export industry on the road to/from Rome, to help speed up trade. This had to be compromised a little because of the need for imported goods, but at least it let me have money rolling in quicker rather than later.

Also, the gatehouses were once again used to control my walkers, to great effect.

I also started using larger number of warehouses, and dedicating each one to receive a single type of item, wherever space allows. This tactic has been a part of my success on all subsequent levels. It just takes a lot of the worries off from turning industries on/off.
