Date: Wed, 12 Jun 96 15:03:19 +0200 From: mool@oce.nl Content-Type: text Sender: owner-vim@prz.tu-berlin.de Precedence: bulk Status: RO Well, actually I've named it "4.1 BETA". This means that it requires some testing before it can be distributed. If no serious trouble is discovered, I will rename it to 4.1 and it will be released. I'll set the deadline for reporting problems to Monday 17th. For Americans, this means Sunday night. There are quite a few fixes in 4.1. I hope I didn't introduce new problems while fixing others. For a complete list see src/version.c. -- Changes incompatible with the previous version -- When the '<' flag is included in 'cpoptions', only <> form of special key codes is not recognized in mappings. Added the 'k' flag for raw key codes. This makes it possible to switch these off separately (useful if you have raw terminal codes that look like commands, but still want to use the <> form). ------------------------ VIM Distribution Sites Vim can be found at: ftp://ftp.oce.nl/pub/misc/vim/ (slow) You can probably also find it at: ftp://petrified.cic.net/mirrors/vim/ ftp://jagubox.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/unix/vim/ (USA) ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/utilities/vim/ (Germany) ftp://ftp.prz.tu-berlin.de/pub/unix/editors/vim/ (Germany) ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/pub/misc/editors/vim/ (Germany) ftp://nuxi.cs.ucdavis.edu/pub/vim A Linux binary statically linked with Motif can soon be found at: ftp://ftp.blarg.net/pub/vim A few Win32 binaries (for NT on Alpha, MIPS and PowerPC) can be found at: ftp://www.halcyon.com/local/gvr/vim/ Files (in /pub/misc/vim/beta-test): amiga/vim41src.lha Amiga packed sources (excluding src/tags) amiga/vim41bin.lha Amiga binary + docs atari/... You'll have to fix this by hand. -- What's next? -- 4.1 will be publicly released if there are no problems reported before Monday 17th (Sunday night for Americans). -- Porting -- OS/2: This version looks quite stable now. There are a few small problems though. Mac: Axel Kielhorn started work on this. Will take some time. VMS: The first set of patches has been posted on vimdev. It will be made available as a separate set of files later. Still quite a bit of work remains to be done. Atari MiNT: A first version of the Atari MiNT port is ready. It uses the Unix code, there should not be too many problems. The patches have now been included in the source code. -- Reporting bugs -- If you run into bugs or just don't like what you see, let me know. Best is to send me patches if you can. Otherwise send me a clear description of the problem. Include info about the machine you run it on, and the output of: :set all :set termcap :map :map! :au And any other things that apply. -- Vim mailing lists -- There are three mailing lists for Vim: vim@prz.tu-berlin.de about using Vim vimdev@prz.tu-berlin.de about developing Vim vimannounce@prz.tu-berlin.de announcements If you want to join send a message to majordomo@prz.tu-berlin.de and put "info" in the body. Then Majordomo will give you a little help. If you have trouble with a mailing list, send a message to Felix von Leitner, who made this mailing list work: leitner@prz.tu-berlin.de. Don't ask him to subscribe or remove you from the list, use majordomo for that.
