Colors: The vertical bands of color have been used to distinguish the various Difficulty Levels. VH=Very Hard, H=Hard, N=Normal, E=Easy and VE=Very Easy. The horizontal bands of color are to aid in reading across the chart.
The following is a description of the information found on Page 2 of the Chart.
Evolve / Devolve: The desirability of the area necessary to Evolve a house to this level is repeated here (from Page 1) in the top row. In the second row is the desirability value at which the house will Devolve to the next lower level. Note that there is a difference in these two values. Once a house has evolved to a specified level, additional undesirability may be introduced to the area before the house will Devolve.
Risk of Fire: The Risk of Fire increases with the level of difficulty. The Risk of Fire also increases as housing evolves from Crude Hut to Ordinary Cottage. As housing evolves beyond Ordinary Cottage, the Risk of Fire is reduced.
Risk of Crime: There are two values that determine the risk of crime for a given level of housing. These are Crime Risk Base (top row) and Crime Risk Increment (bottom row). Risk of Crime increases with the level of difficulty, and decreases as the quality of housing improves.
Risk of Disease: Risk of Disease increases with the level of difficulty, and decreases as the quality of housing improves. Exception: The Risk of Disease for an Ordinary Cottage is lower for Normal Difficulty than it is for Easy Difficulty.
Risk of Malaria: Risk of Malaria increases with the level of difficulty, and decreases as the quality of housing improves. Exception: The Risk of Malaria for a Rough Cottage and an Ordinary Cottage is lower for Normal Difficulty than it is for Easy Difficulty. Note: There is no Risk of Malaria on maps without reeds.
