Buildings unmasked!
All has been revealed! Our top team of sleuths has
passed its collective magnifying glass over the e-fit and have come up with some answers.
And some have been proved correct! To find out what I'm yakking on about and
who we can now call Sherlock, head
over here.
If you watched Egypt night on Discovery last night,
then why not share with us your feelings about the whole thing? One forumer already
has done so here.

Another Pharaoh Preview
This one has been posted in the forum for quite
a while now, but I thought I'd bring it out to the news page since today's pretty quiet.
It's at GamersCentral, and was posted on 20/5/99, so it can encompass the new
information released at E3. Check it out here,
and then post
your thoughts here.
Something for our European
visitors who have cable and can get the Discovery Channel here. It's a bit of an
Egypt night tonight - here's the schedule (all times Central European Time)
22:00 CET Cleopatra
23:00 CET Tutankhamen's Curse
24:00 CET Mystery of the Pyramids.
Thanks go out to Angel
Jayhawk for spotting that one.

Have you seen these buildings?
Be warned, there are some unidentified buildings on the
loose in ancient Egypt. We know not what functions these constructions perform, and
they may well be dangerous. All I can say is, take a look at the following picture,
make a note of the letters, and then post
here what you think each of the buildings is. Next week we shall hear from
Impressions which guesses were correct.

And now, from one public service announcement to
another. Heaven's Gaming Sites (of which
Pharaoh Heaven is a part) is proud to announce the opening of Heaven's Marketplace.
"Eh?" I hear you cry, "What's Heaven's Marketplace?". Well,
it's the place to be to get anything HGS-related you like. Currently we have some
rather natty t-shirts available, but we might expand our range if the demand is there.
And now for another HGS-related announcement.
Age of Empires Heaven is sponsoring a
design contest to celebrate the passing of AOE I and heralding the arrival of AOE II.
Click on the pic to find out more.
There's also a brand new contest at our hosts
Gamestats. This one gives you a chance to win all sorts of Westwood-related goodies.
Once again, the link behind the pic tells the story.

Composite time!
No, I haven't gone all Age of Empires on you and started talking about
composite bowmen or something. Read on...
This is what I'm talking about. Angel Jayhawk
was sufficiently intrigued by the 8 screenshots that we received a couple of days ago, all
of which you will probably now have seen, to see if they all came from the same map.
Well, it looks like they did, as is clearly demonstrated in this not so little
composite .jpg file that he put together. The 4 going together diagonally at the
bottom are especially enlightening, as it gives you the first chance to "zoom"
across a map as you would in the game. Be warned, however, this
picture is by no means small. It's nearly 1MB is size, so will take
quite a while to display. While you're waiting, you could even have a little browse
round the forum...

Any more for any more?
I hope you like the screenshots that I posted yesterday.
If so, then you're in for a bit of a treat today, as the other 4 (and the better
ones of the set I think) are making an appearance. Here we go...
This is the first one, and shows some more
expensive housing. This pic makes it clear that wells will evolve, and very nice
they look too. You're all bound to find a load of stuff in here, so you're bound to
have some comments. If so, then go ahead and post
them here.
Warning: Pyramid under construction. This pic
expands on the stuff shown in one of Spineman's E3 photos, namely how the pyramids in
Pharaoh will be put together. Seems like Impressions are going on the
"ramp" theory. Comments
about this one here please.
This one shows the same pyramid, but also some of
the sort of stuff that you'll need to build around it - warehouses for stone, statues to
the gods etc. As always, comments are valued, so express
them here.
Temples are the order of the day here. This
one's clearly to Sobek, the crocodile god, as can be seen by the statues placed around it.
But what's that pink building behind it..? Any ideas? Tell
us here!

More screenshots!!!
But these are no ordinary screenshots. Oh no, not at
all, these are Pharaoh Heaven exclusive screenshots, so you won't see
them anywhere else on the Net. There's a total of 8, so there's
plenty to keep you going! I'll post 4 today and then the other 4 tomorrow...
Here's the first one, showing more of the farmland
that will be so important in Pharaoh. There are also a couple of neat little
buildings next to the farmland, and I'm sure you'll figure out what they are.
Comments about this shot may
be posted here.
Immigrants will clearly still exist in Pharaoh, as
this screenshot clearly shows. These chaps first appeared in the first mockup
screenshot (the Sphinx), and I initially thought they were cart-pushers. However,
this pic proves once and for all that their are, in fact, immigrants. Comments
can be posted here.
Here's another waterfront pic, and shows what seems
to be a cedar fishing boat heading out to fish the Nile. However, perhaps of greater
interest is the goods in the warehouses... Anyway, if you have any comments, go
ahead and post
them here.
This pic proves that the building with the holes in
it is indeed a granary - you can see a couple of the holes in the building on the right
stuffed full with wheat. As always, we welcome your comments - post
them here!
Phew! That's enough for today - the other
four exclusive shots will make their grand entrance tomorrow! See you then!
