Author's Description:

Revenge - v2.0 (Version 1 was Pharaolympics 2000 event)

File name: Revenge v2-0.sav (has to be placed into your Pharaoh\Save\Family_Name folder and started using "Load game").

Mission characteristics : Desert climate, very limited water sources. Starting funds 5055, no bailout. City partially built, recruiter and gold mines on map, but can't be rebuilt. Main source of income - copper and weapons exports, gold, taxes. The only resources available are copper, game and sandstone. Gods - Seth (patron, TC available), Ptah. Mansion disabled (no gifts to boost KR). Strong Bedouin and Hittite invasions - military survival.

Suggested difficulty setting : Hard or Normal. Not tested on other difficulties, can be unwinnable on Very Hard or boring on Easy. If you decide to use other than suggested difficulty, please don't complain ;). This mission was primarily designed to be played at Hard, and is a lot easier when played on Normal. "Revenge" was designed for and tested with Pharaoh. It should be playable with Cleopatra - but I can't guarantee that (any comments and experiences from playing it under Cleo are welcome!).

Requirements :
Survive for 21 years.

Story:
"My dear General, as you know, we have recently established a foothold in the desert in Sharuhen. This place is one of the two keys to our victory over the Hittite invaders because it is a source of valuable copper. I have been informed that there is also some gold to be found in old abandoned mines. I was warned, however, that these old mines are in bad shape and should they collapse, we will not be able to rebuild them.

Build a strong army, and defend Sharuhen at all costs and supply the Egyptian army with copper and weapons. Only if you can hold the city and copper mines long enough, will we then have a chance against the cursed Hittites and their steady attacks on the Egyptian nation. Should you fail in this critical task, our army will be weakened and we will hardly be able to defend our own cities. You must not fail!

The other key to our victory is Gaza, which can supply enough high quality wood for chariots in the area where it is most needed - near the Hittite borders. I will ask you to send some troops to aid us when we are ready to attack that important city. I know you will need those soldiers to defend Sharuhen, but this is a matter of utmost importance. Once Gaza is captured, we can start to amass a large army and then drive the Hittites out of Egypt once and for all time. And now, go - and may Seth bless you."

These words were still ringing in your ears as your began your way home from the audience at the Pharaoh palace to prepare for your journey. Suddenly, a strange looking cloaked figure stepped into your path, and said, "I know your are going to Sharuhen, and I have an important message for you." Thinking he is a secret messenger from one of Pharaoh's viziers (who else could know of this mission?), you stopped and waited for him to deliver the message.

"Gaza is our town. Do not help to attack Gaza! Pharaoh will not conquer it without your troops. His attack will weaken the Hittite garrison, and we will be able to take it back into our own hands. If you will keep out of the fight, we will sell you chariots to fight the Hittites in Sharuhen. If you won't, you will pay dearly .. our revenge will strike you. Don't say I didn't warn you!"

Before you can recover from these astonishing words, the mysterious stranger disappeared in the dark narrow street. Well, what now? What shall you do, General? Will you help Pharaoh conquer Gaza to secure the needed wood for the Egyptian nation? Or will you keep in the background, defend your own city and pay for it with Pharaoh's displeasure and the high price of chariots? The choice is yours...choose wisely!
