Scenario ID = 59
Date Submitted = 2000-06-14

Author's Description:

This is my newest map, and the main challenge is the population requred, as this is a very small map.
It will require carefull planning if you are to succeed.
Pharaoh will request Chariots and Beer of you, and you will send it, as Egypt needs.

So play it and tell me what you think...

Winning Requirements:
3250 pop
50 Culture
75 Prosperity
80 Kingdom
1 Small Obelisk
Must finish within 11 years.

Storyline:

You enter the royal court of Bubastis. Pharaoh is awaiting you.
Pharaoh makes a gesture, for you to sit down, you obey without any hesitation, as he begins to speak:
"I, son of the gods, have to admit that our beloved Nile-valley has fallen to our enemies, the Hyksos."
You did know about this, but you still can't avoid to let out a small gasp for air.
"It is our wood that causes it...", Pharaoh continues, "It has been struck by some disease, that not even Bast, nor Osiris can rule."
Pharaoh looks up, fixing his eyes on the ceiling in
this gigantic, and magnificent room.
He sits like this for a while. You know the custom, so
you don't speak, unless spoken to.
He sighs quietly, and then starts speaking again, much
to your relief:
"Our chariots can hardly be strapped onto the horses,
before they fall apart... You will go to the island of
Cyprus, and establish a small Colony. The disease has
not yet struck there, and the wood is healthy and hard.
So you will be in charge of supplying our army with Chariots.
I will send our best Chariotmakers with you, so you are our
only chance of managing to stay along the Nile"
You slowly begin to realize what is asked of you, and
you feel that this mission shouldn't be that hard.
"You can and will also supply us with Beer. The beer produced in Egypt just isn't what it was before. And now that we have almost the entire Egyptian army here in Bubastis, and Itjtawy further south, much more is needed. You can import Barely and sell us the finished Beer"
The Pharaoh closes his eyes and starts to chant slowly.
You realize that it is time to leave, so you get up on
your feet.
"Oh, one more thing", the Pharaoh says, still with his eyes
closed, "you will need to prove your city-building skills to me as well, and therefor I have decreed that you shall build your city with a minimum of 3250 citizens, and achieve challenging rating-requirements... "
"One small obelisk might be nice" He says almost dreaming. "That is all."
You turn around and walk out of the room. Suddenly you se that one of the Royal Viziers come running after you, with a stressed look on his face. He waves with a piece of papyrus, and hands it over to you. You open it and read:
"I forgot something: You shall be finished in 11 years"
You let out a small sigh, and then leave the building heading directly for the Docks. You have a mission to accomplish.

Player Comment by Cherub Baltic:

Perfect scenario, I'd recommend it to everybody. Nice map, precisely set starting funds and requirements, as well as requests.

I enjoyed it, and played it to completion in one evening - I simply couldn't go away until it was done. Very ingenious, and I can appreciate the amount of work put into design and testing.
Thanks, Moquel!
