Stringbags' Hippo Stomp Challenge
I have been toying with the idea of creating a scenario that utilised the defensive capabilities of the civilian population and to ascertain to what extent they can be used. By now you will know that you have a number of Home Guard or Militiamen available to you to defend the city,
these are the police, woodcutters, hunters and Seths blessings, you can also lure the invading army into the paths of hyenas, hippos or crocodiles to deplete their ranks before they reach your city, the hippos being by far the most effective. Thus from these musings comes the Hippo Stomp Challenge.
The map is arranged so that invading armies have to run the gauntlet of hippos, woodcutters and hunters before meeting up with your police force. Set in the year 3500 BC, your resources are limited, lack of healthcare means that desease and plague limits the population, but
you will never have problems with aging citizens. Your armies are away in foriegn parts establishing a foothold that will eventually lead to the great Egyptian dynasty.
You will be attacked without mercy in January of each year by ever increasing numbers of Bedoins and Pharaohs army and later by mighty Hyskos, if you get that far. My challenge to you is to see how long you can survive this onslaught. You may or may not use the Hippo Stomp cheat, that is up to you, but remember it is a two edged sword and riled hippos will attack anyone within range whether it be
friend or enemy.
Wood and papyrus can be exported in large amounts, but your reed gatherers and woodcutters will suffer a high atrition rate as they battle with the hippo poulation and the invading armies, maybe pottery will keep your bank balance in the black.
There is no restrictions to when you are allowed to save, this is a complete free-for-all, but I would like to know whether you have used the cheats or not. If you think that you have finished in a good time then send me the saved game in yourname_Stomp_cheats.zip format if you used cheats or yourname_Stomp_nocheats.zip if you don't use

I have tested this scenario extensively on hard difficulty, it is quite possible the there is no time limit if the cheats are used, my advice is use the Hippo Stomp cheat to get to know the map and then retry it without.
