Hi,
I tried your map and this is what i have to say:
First off I saw the map itself and i said to myself finnally
someone took the time to make their map look nice and somewhat
geographically realistic. I dont know if you've looked at most
of the maps that are available for download but the people
made them hastily and all they are is a bunch of farmland
squares, straight rivers, square lakes, and square
clumps of trees and rocks. Your scenario has a natural
geographic diversity (I hope you know this is a compliment).
I also noticed that you took the time to arrange the events
very carefully, having requests followed by city rating
going up/down.
Now for the constructive criticism. The map is kinda
small to be building three monuments like that. Although
it is possible to build them in the space provided, it gets
kinda crowded. Second, the "road to the kingdom" gets blocked
during flood season because part of it runs through a flood
plain... this causes the game to destroy building after building,
and even maybe your monuments if it decided to. You could
have a little hidden pass through the rock on the left of
the road to prevent such occurences, you don't have to have
any road going through it, it would be camouflaged but would
prevent the game from destroying your buildings when the main
road is cut off.
Finnally, i just wanted to add that I am glad someone else
is taking the time to make thier maps look aesthetically
appealing. If you are like me and like to see nice looking
maps you should try my Ibn Aufu map... I think it is a very
good looking map... Now I've heard comments that there is
some request bug that asks you for something like 16000
pottery but you can just go in the map editor and change it.
Unlike you in your "City if the Unfortunate" I didn't take
very much time in scheduling the events... feel free to set
up a whole new list of events to better suit the scenario,
i would be glad to see it if you choose to do so.
I am currently working on a new map called "Blue Nile
Enclosure". It is a very large map situated at the end of
the Blue Nile in the Etheopian highlands. I hope it will be
a really good map... i could send you a copy of it once i'm
done (before I upload it to the Pharaoh site) so you can help
me test it... that is if you are interested. I would really
appreciate some constructive criticism on my work. What I
may think is good others might not, and after seeing what
you can do (scenario building wise) I think you'd be a great
help in perfecting my newest creation. Let me now what you
think. And again, congratulations on a well created map.
Sincerely,
Dave Lapointe

Thanks for the comments CO.
About the Kingdom Road, it is a design feature to really make people think where they are going to start building first,(you'll need two ferry crossings) and it also affects trade as it doesn't leave you much choice as to where to build your dock.
I hade no trouble getting the monuments in and finished in the 20yrs while playing on hard(but I knew what was coming)
