Description:
In the southern Nile delta lie the vestiges of a rare city. Around 2300 BC, Egyptians were practising cultivation in flooded patches along the river, like people are now cultivating rice. It was the only irrigation method they knew. What they were doing in this place called Nekhen, nobody knows, but after several decades of drought and a succession of devastating earthquakes, this farming technology was not anymore applicable and the place was deserted, let alone some water bird hunters.
According to the tablets, Djoser settled in Bubastis around 2254. He sent you to Nekhen as still one of the last places where some crops could be extracted from the soil. His priests taught you irrigation. Your aim is to ensure you can feed part of the population of the kingdom, more than 5000 you were told.
You cannot build towers, as the soil is too weak. You can use the vestige of an ancient fort but, take care, you were told it could be isolated as an island in case of one of the now so rare good flooding. You are not allowed to arrange any festival, only the priests of Busbastis, the capital, are allowed to get back the mercy of the Gods, especially Osiris who seems to have deserted Egypt. Some roaming Canaanites tribes could try to loot your city, so protect it. Also build a pyramid for Djoser who loses many of his infant Pharaoh children through starvation.
This scenario is a typical city building one. The difficulty lies in housing 5,500 people (so minimum three large housing blocks) on the islands, including in 5 palatial estates. All goods are available in large quantities. No tower, no festival square, poor flooding. It took me some time to start the game properly; as usual, I will upload my definitive city in some time.
