Nekhen Pass, by Tryhard

Scenario ID = 166
Date Submitted = 2002-01-09

Author's Description:

Nekhen Pass is the key of the Nile Delta. In 432 AD, the Roman Empire tries to break the resistance surging along its borders. The Visigoths already looted Rome, the Empire is falling apart. Their most precious jewel remains Egypt, occupied for the past 500 years. Unfortunately for them, the new Pharaoh Dynasty plots for the restoration of its ancient powers. As the Romans kill anybody who opposes them, Pharaoh sent you to an inaccessible zone in the Nile Delta, Nekhen Pass, where some gold mines should be exploited to pay a tribute for raising an army. You also have to build two monuments to the glory of the new dynasty, an Egyptian prowess undone for the last centuries that the Romans please to laugh at. Until now…

You will be confronted to the arrogance of the Roman Senate and the fierce legions, but also will remain under permanent supervision by Pharaoh.

Here are two scenarios. The scenario itself is strictly identical but the maps differ slightly to allow a long scenario with a huge stone pyramid (some 4200 stones, around 60 years) and a shorter scenario with 2 smaller ones (some 2000 stones, less than 40 years).

You are basically autonomous, you can live ignoring any trade, except to raise money in the beginning with linen and papyrus. The rule is simple: Rome will try to summon you. If you do not fulfill their requests, they send an army. If you do, Pharaoh is unhappy and your Kingdom rating drops sharply.

Similarly to Frontier-Nekhen, Nekhen Pass is not really difficult but the Romans have the best infantry of the planet, it is always very costly to defeat them.

Specificity: only the chariots are not available. The map also forbids perfectly designed blocks and, and... NO STATUE (the stone is needed for the pyramid). So you will have to handle the block design to ensure a correct desirability. Of course, in some weeks, I will propose my version, but I am sure VAIA already has lots in the forum.
