Didn't send this one initially -- I remember at the time I was pretty proud of it, though I was disappointed with the score. Now I know it's because of the low ending funds. Also see now how much more I could have done with it!
This is where I pretty much finalized by ideal standard block -- width of 5,6, or 7 (7 is more for show as 6 gives you 2 interior squares for statues gardens whish is plenty for desirability.); water supply and market in the middle of each 'avenue' and entertainment structures on the intersections which lead to industrial areas. Also note the placement of one of the scribal schools in the southern community. I've found that placing them on the short end of my blocks ensures quite secure coverage -- even for my normal 7x22 blocks and my usual unblocked connections to my industrial areas.
The first combat was pretty exciting, as a recall it. Had a special surprise when the third attack came so close to the mining area -- luckily my troops were fast (the Bedouins were dimwitted) enough to respond before any damage occurred. Obviously could have expanded to the richer mining area to the west, but I was more interested in getting all housing up to common residence level -- which, in my mind, gave me a 'perfect' 60 -- funny how one's standards can change in just a month!
