Behdet (Apollinopolis) , by Plebus

City ID = 63
Date Submitted = 1999-12-16

Author's Description:

finished in 82 months(Oct.2679BC)
Score: 35028

population 3060,
prosperity 50,
kingdom 59,
culture 15,
Final funds 69266db

Well, this is my second try on Behdet, though I've told Brugle that I won't play that level again, but he said the maxim gold mines could be 22 or 23(he built 20),and I could only manage 19 in my first attempt...so I decided to have another run.The previous attempt was not very good:finished in 102 months, but with lower score as well as funds and population.I know what delayed the progress:I had only one dock handling 5 import/exports:brick,wood, reed, papyrus and beer:that's too much for one dock(I was reluctant on building reed island community, impossible to raise those housings to apartment level:I always try to make a "white houses city",so I gave up the reed island and imported reed).

So I decided concentrating on three things this time:mine gold like mad, produce beer like mad, then import bricks(and start import wood only six months before the invasion). The result is almost perfect except one of the 23 gold mines lost its labor access periodically and somewhat lower kingdom rate:I forget about the kingdom requests, and delayed the first three of them,Ra also refused to send me some extra points...

Besides of that,I've also monitored the whole construction process.I've already posted a thread in the Pharaoh's Heaven Help Forum, about the mysterious brick number counting(named "Buggy calculation on monuments' right-click pop ups"):The situation is more serious here with a medium mastaba.According to the numbers of formen, one course of mastaba could use 10-12 loads of brick(The reasons is,more 1x1 tile space of a course used 1 load of brick insteas of 0.5)! I was fortunately (and wisely) enough having added a fourth construction guild in the last year, and the last course only took 10 loads, otherwise,I couldn't finish this level in 6 years:the import quota had already been hit.

As a conclusion, the number of construction guilds needed depends on the scale of construction, and MORE importantly, concerns with the amount of building materials in storage yards and how many brick haullers at one time.Every expert player should take this factor into their game planning,if he wants some best score or time.
