In this one, I abandoned the comb layout and chose to use the more traditional oblong city blocks. There are 2 massive blocks stretching right across the largest island which house most of the population - these are mostly at one of the Residence levels. Before those 2, I build the small oblong block which you see at the top of the main island (just to get workers in so I could start placing those gold mines).
My gold mines are in the south-eastern corner (where the enemies attack from, hence the forts and towers), and I extract copper from the south-western corner.
Since I had a bit of time on my hands while my monuments were being constructed, and my prosperity rating was stuck at 61 (65 is needed), I decided to throw up a scribe area - in this save, it contains 3 Palatial Estates and a Stately Manor, and can be found to the East.
Note also the culture ghettos in the centre of the largest islands ;).
