Description:
PAPYRUS: I did not bother reaching the CR in my “150 PE in Hetep” for two reasons: first it is obvious I can make it, I made it before with much less space saved, second and more important, it took me the last stages of this city to know where I would put the libraries (Some 35 more than I have, what takes only in itself 1215 tiles) and so, I would have set them early, when I was overproducing papyrus. To set each of them costs 500 papyrus; I then manage to deliver to them, one by one, just 100 or 200 papyrus before disconnecting the library, the librarian walks around and remains at home with 20 or 40 papyrus. In my plans I even think of having a road two tiles away with a fire station, this way after a while the libraries lose their workers but never burn. I know I have set them, I can make them operational within minutes without any extra cost in papyrus. It is a job that goes throughout 12 years of the game, says between the Years 15 and 30 but not after when I can just handle the necessary production.
LINEN: Same with the mortuaries. However I would not have set them in all blocks, I would have set some three more to be more relaxed on this at the end of the game. I would have called for more best blessings from Ptah, having my luxuries/pottery/clay/gems packed to ensure I get either linen or flax (in 100 PE I worked it a lot).
BAZAARS: I also made a mistake in my housing blocks/ I should have set 3 bazaars in each. With two bazaars and the time span between two blessings from Bast, I cannot accumulate goods, so nearly never reach the 20,000 figure for these goods. In “100 PE”, many goods are at the 20,000 stage, especially linen. Just, I think, because the blocks are smaller. The game is always at 20,000 everywhere but only 1 bazaar reaches 20,000 beer. If it works, I can at a later stage destroy the third market and replace it with the required mortuary. So the linen factories work at best only for the mortuaries and the imports make it without any problem.
I would of course have set the working blocks earlier, even with some houses only, to stockpile the goods in the bazaars. Especially the fish, as this way at the very end of the game I can deactivate the 25+ fishing wharfs, thus saving 150 workers, but also the corresponding SYs.
ZOOS: However I prefer relying on senets as they can stockpile more food, I would have set two zoos, perhaps even 3 where I have the room. I would have needed some extra senets (I am fine with their number for the CR) but they take 16 tiles when the zoo takes 36 tiles, what becomes critical when you are packing the map. The same way, the extra 2-3 zoos would have been kept furbished with the very minimum to keep them active and disconnected. It is less easy as they rely on two goods, game and straw, but I have 55 years to handle it.
BLOCKS: I wanted to try the use of bandstands (I must add 30+ of them to reach the CR) and boothes (100+!) in lieu of some rows of 2x2 statues where it saves space, however I am not convinced it would work well as their desirability effect is much lower than a smaller statue. I can have a try on the island SW where I can gain two tiles enlarging the blocks. Even if it does not work well, I can set some 3x3 statues to compensate (I would put them between the blocks, my working block is not stable if 22 long (as it is) and 9 wide (it is 8 wide), the librarian and the physician sometimes miss it, even some sides do not see a musician or a dancer.
AGING POPULATION: should I bet on an early massive immigration for these people to retire at the end of the game and be replaced by younger people? I would, but my fear is that someone demonstrated here that some people grow older and older and never die (they become immortals). When talking about 1% of the population of this kind, it is already 550 people. Getting blocks to devolve? It is a gamble. Erasing/Unerasing blocks (Erasing+Undo) works for a while then brings no more benefit if, for example, you do it to one block close to the entry point. It is not possible to do it on a far away block or I would end up with lots of black holes (and most likely the game to crash definitely).
