Things went west near the end. Something happened with the sun temple, workers and masons would go to(in) the temple in a continuious stream and disappear inside. Nothing ever got done, work wise. Save 5 is during this hiccup. I had to delete the monument and then use the undo. After that, work started again but the center of the temple never appeared though it showed complete. I lost at least a year before I noticed that work wasn't actually progressing as I was busy upgrading housing for the final population push.
